Wellbutrin and dopamine?

My physciatrist said that Wellbutrin will help with dopamine .i never heard this before.
So would this help with prolactin ?

Different function. Wellbutrin keeps your brain from absorbing the dopamine as quickly so there is more dopamine available as a neurotransmitter. It doesn't activate or create more dopamine, it just slows down the reuptake (absorption). Cabergoline actually binds to the dopamine receptors and helps activate it. Wellbutrin will not replace the need for a dopamine agonist to control prolactin.

SSRI's are like benzos? I've never noticed that and I have been on quite a few (Zoloft, Prozac, Celexa). Some anti-psychotics exhibit the effects of a benzo such as Seroquel. Another one that has similar effects is Trazodone....both will basically knock you out cold.

Yeah. A quick Google search reveals that it has happened to *many* people who have used Wellbutrin.

As I posted earlier ive not been able to leave my house and now its over 2 weeks.havent been to the gym either.im already on a shitload on antidepressants .benzos trazadone seroquil and pain meds .but I still managed to make it to the gym this whole year.
So when I saw my physciatrist I told him and he said it could be dopamine related and said to wait two weeks before I put you on more meds .
He mentioned Wellbutrin but ive used that in the past and didn't help.
So I guess ill see what happens.also I have other health problems going on which are in another post

are u sure this doctor is competent?sounds like a lot of meds.
pain meds?and a dopamine uptake inhibitor?

i dont know...sound excessive.
maybe even dangerous.
anybody else think this doc is overprescribing?

thought about it for a second and...if your on opiates for more than a couple weeks of course your head aint gonna be releasing dopamine...this doc sounds sketchy.and in two weeks hes gonna give you more drugs???wtf???
maybe look for a new doctor.

Sorry maybey I have you confused.the pain meds are from my pain management doctor which I've been on pain meds for over 11 years due to a severe car accident crushing most of. My spine but I'm not going into detail cause I already posted exactly what happened to me.
The phsyciatrist presribes the other meds .
Yes all my doctors know what I take .
I've been seeing the physciatrist for about ten years.all the anxiety depression insomnia. Came after my accident cause I was going crazy.try being home bound for.so many years and not. Being able to leave the house.
He did not start me on all these meds it was a buildup over the years.
So no he's not overprescribing .
I get drug tested every month not only for recreational drugs but to make sure I'm taking all my meds.it a very expensive test and it tests for all the meds your on.hope this help u understand.i wasn't really asking for a med to stop prolactin just to help dopamine levels.

no i get it.eleven years of painkillers equals no dopamine production.none.
as a recovering addict this i know...the opiates are ur dopamine now.
so these good doctors should just give you more dope.
