what is the current state of the sports supplement store business?

what is everyone's feeling about the state of the "sports supplement" store business. With today's extremely anti-steroid climate which seems now to be in the process of being transferred to sports supplements in general, what are the prospects for successful continued operation of sports supplements stores?

It seems like such things as creatine and even protein powders are now under attack from some quarters. Recently Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill in california that would have put controls on the use of sports supplementation in california high school sports programs.

It seems that nutritional supplements targeted to the sports market is under pressure due to the advertising connection with bodybuilding in general.

Has this business peaked? Is this a bad time to open this type of store?

Well if any of you gusy followed the CAFTA bill, there was a section in there that said since the USA was part of the WTO that we had to follow thier guidelines and health and supplementation and to go along with that would make any vitamin or herb or supplement over the daily allowed intake illegal.

Now there are a few minor setbacks to this. The WTO cannot impose its laws on the US just as the US cant impose its laws on another country, but there are alot of people in congress who like the model of health given by the WTO and are in favor of it.

If so the DSHEA act of 1994 would be abolished and all majot health stores like GNC, Vitamin Woroild, etc. All the companies like EAS, muscletech etc would all be out of business. Now the supplemet industry is a 10 billion dollar a year economic asset to this country. Nobody at least that I know of is going to allow a 10 billion dollar a year industry to become illegal. There are too many lobbyist in D.C. and special intrest groups for supplement companies that would put a stop to that but the pressure is on and will be on until all this dies down adn congress finds a new agenda.

But to answer your question we are okay for now.

just another example of the system or whatever you wanna call it picking on an easy target and targeting things that SHOULDNT be targets, becuase their weak/bitch/pussy/punk asses cant do anything about the real crime. I guess the real drug dealers have gotten too smart for them, so they have to have SOMETHING to show for their time, that shows they werent in the office all the time twidling their fingers (which they probably are). Go after steroids and supplements, thats easy. Dont worry about the comeback HEROINE is making. Who cares if a few (way more than a few) thousand people have their lives ruined over drugs. People are being killed by fiends for their fix. Countless problems resulting from this shit. Nah, investigators are too stupid to catch the criminals behind these things. They cant stop TONS of shit coming in on shipments (il bet you they come in 1k different boxes, they cant catch ONE and find where its going huh). Just one more reason i absolutly f*CKING hate cops and officials. Never have they once done anything good for me or any of my friends, just cost us shitloads of money and caused us grief.
