I train my whole body in one session. I typically do three or four workouts per week. I typically do a Mon/Wed/Fri split. So I hit each muscle group three times per week while resting four days. Not every session is an all out balls to the wall session.
Typically Mondays and Fridays is hard (around 5 reps) while a Wednesday and possibly Saturday session is light. So for example Monday I may squat 2 sets of 5 reps with 495lbs but Wednesday may be something low impact easy on the knees like lunges just for a pump.
I also noticed, been training and using steroids since '95, that some muscle groups will grow no matter what I do and others need more focus. For example my chest requires some extra attention where as my legs have always responded so I'll typically start off with a couple sets of squats and then move right away into chest and focus a bit on where I need it.
Im just a nobody who likes a workout but I do compete at a national level in strength stuff. As for bodybuilding I don't know if its the best, anything over 6 reps for me is cardio, but I have noticed my chest is much more fuller and my arms are getting a lot bigger. I think its also because in strongman/oly you don't really focus on the show muscles like chest and arms.
Here is my last workout which took me 45 minutes. Most of it was just loading and unloading plates.
Ass to grass squats no belt.
One arm db overhead press in a clean / press motion.
(after this I no longer warm up I just go right into work sets).
Low incline fly superset with high incline press.
Straight bar pullovers.
Yates rows two sets.
Straight bar curls.
Light Seated Shoulder Press
