Well school is back in down here and the gym is now packed with a bunch more vermin , don't get me wrong I love to see new young faces in the gym eager to learn somthing and make gains but all this skinny little fucks sitting around on the benchs doing forearm curls with one hand while they text their little buddy next to them about the hot lady on the stepper.

Yesterday one of these fells is doing standing behind the back fore arm curls in the squat rack !! so I politely ask haow man sets he has and his replay is 7 so I say ok , I'm gonna go warm up I'll be back in a few , I return 10 min later and ask how many more he has and he say 5. SO , I turn into the dickhead that everybody loves and jump his ass about using the "SQUAT" rack for anything other than squats , dissmount his shit and setup for squats , this sparks a complaint to management , I explain and its squashed.

TODAY , 6 kids all sitting on their own bench with a dumbell in one hand and cell phone in the other doing fore arm curls !!

WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING FORE ARM CURLS AT ALL, let along tieing up the WHOLE dumbell section of the gym

I don't get it what the hell is the fad with working your fore arms , its like their all getting ready tor a jerkoff contest or somthing.

I train forearms. but

i get where youre coming from.
skinny kids who are just starting out do not need to be doing ANY isolation work, hell, we dont NEED ANY isolation work :)
it pisses me off especially when people are doing any kind of curl in the squat rack.. why is it called a squat rack?
oh yeah, cause its used for squatting.

there are constantly skinny kids just starting out, that train in my gym, and they ask for advice, you tell them, and they go back to doing curls and flat bench.. what can we do.

haha you just made me laugh out loud thinking about these hardcore bodybuilders at your gym. Maybe it kool to have bigger forearms that bis and tris ill check with the next 15yr old i see:D

I do forearm flexors and extensors work because of repetitive injury syndrome form typing all day. I do reverse curls because it hits my lower outer bis good an brings out more peak in biceps.

I do them at the preacher curl station though in between the curls NOT on a freaken rack, which annoys me also when I'm trying to do squats or deads.

LOL, yeah I totally agree. For me it was usually fools doing barbell curls with 10 lb plates in the squat rack. Tying up all of the benches doing forearm curls is a new low. I feel for you!

Teenagers these days IMO for the most part are selfish and ego driven. Most don't even care if you have to use the squat rack and will sit there doing their squats or deads with just the bar. Not only that, they have the nerve to bring their cell phones and text or call their friends in between sets. What I usually do is I go to the manager and tell him the situation and the manager usually gets the kids to move else where. Another thing that pisses me off in the gym with these little fuckers is that some of them grunt/scream really loud while they are curling 15 pound dbs in each hand.

Is this a good place to post my forearm curl video?:)

I usually train either early morning or late at night, this way I avoid these encounters. Hell between 5 and 8pm you have to circle the parking lot for a parking space.. its really annoying, I couldnt think what I would do if I actually had to train at that time anymore..

Is this the crap you have to deal with on a daily basis?

YouTube - Forearms, supenated

Check this out for a totally awesome way to make those forearms grow!

I think a lot of the younger guys 16-22 doing all the forearm work I see at the gym are baseball players ,which would make sense, but stay out of the POWER RACK.

I work my forearms, always have.I work my neck too.I see your point if people are in the squat racks, but many work their forearms. I don't compete in bodybuilding and have always worked forearms(Baseball) and neck(football).I started training for strength and have gradually moved towards bodybuilding type workouts.

i can see working forearms for some sort of rehab or thing of that nature , i don't know enough about baseball to see where having strong , overly built forearms would help out any so their maybe a reason.

my main rant is just with people being in th way for no good reason , dont get me wrong use the squat rack for things other like shrugs , bent over rows but the second i see sombody needs to squat i give it up , thats my idea of "squaters rights" but considering that theirs only 5 maybe 6 people that squat at my gym its hard to see how you would have to wait on a rack.

i admit i dont appear to be the most approachable person but i make it a point to let the younger guys (who are honestly trying) know that ill help any way i can , but the little pricks that come in their with a snotty little attitude just amaze me , ive been doing this shit longer than they have been alive and i think it shows so where is the respect? I remember that age , looking in dissbelief as the "old" big guy used the "big" plates and being intimidated as hell to do more than stare. Then a few of them noticed i was eager to learn and willing to work so i was welcomed , i remember that making me feel like a man among boys when my classmates would come in the gym.

now it seems that theirs just no respect or drive with most of these guys

When I was pretty green, I used to train forearms every once in a while, then stopped all together. I actually used to love using the little handgrips you can get at any Wal-Mart. I would do those while studying during my electrician appreticeship. Over time, I started to completely stop because I found that you really don't need to train them directly if you're lifting every other bodypart.

The cycle will never end. I have these guys at my gym as well. I just look up, shake my head, and continue on my way. Then they'll come up to you in 4 or 5 months asking you why they aren't getting anywhere!!!!

Agreed. I have found that forearm curls are a waste of time. Doing all your pulling lifts barehanded will make them grow and your grip strength will also increase as well.

personally

i like to wear wrists straps for back training

and if i want to train my forearms

i will perform hammer curls

4-5 sets and BOOM

i am pumped

most kids come in the gym and like to do wrist curls.......not me...... i stick with hammers

IMHO......the best forearms exercise around

I work forearms every arm day. I hit every other muscle during the week, why not forearms. I don't agree with monopolizing the squat rack for dumbass exercises though. Being as my gym is relatively small and somewhat limited I do use the squat rack for dead lifts and sometimes power cleans. No real alternative at the gym I go to. One of my favorite excercises for working forearms is the forearm roller. Basically a piece of 1.5 inch diameter plastic pipe cut about a foot long with 5 feet of sturdy string hanging from the middle. Tie some wait to the end of the string, hold the pipe straight out in front of you, and roll the pipe using the muscles in your forearms til the weight reaches the pipe. Once you get to the top go back down. It hurts just as bad. I do the same thing using the muscles in the back of the forearms as well.

I work forearms every back/bi day. I think that making them strong is key in terms of functional strength. I actually used to use the rack for them, but that was back when I belonged to a gym where the rack was almost always empty, and there were two anyway.

I hear what you are saying though. The gym is just another place where people are inconsiderate. At my old gym there was a guy who used to come in and take up both power racks. My new gym only has one rack and it's a huge gym so it really pisses me off when people get in there to do curls and whatnot.

waited 15 min for a bench on wed cause some guy was doing those writs curls where you rest your forearms on your legs on a flat bench.....for 15 min...oh there was 12 min of conversation with the guy on the other bench too. and he leaves the 10 lb plates on the damn thing to boot. thats why im typing this from Friends Psychiatric hospital right now.:D:st:r-wars:s:ar-wars

forearm work is in my DC rotation...that said...

Here in Chicago...school is going to start soon and all the kids are wandering back into the gym. I saw some shit exercises some were doing yesterday that simply had me thinking wtf are you guys doing? It's not just them...but others as well. I wanted to go to them and ask them is this some special training you're doing for a sport or did you pick this up online somewhere. But is was crazy.

On a positive note, cell phone use is not allowed in the gym, texting or otherwise...so I don't have to deal with any of that crap.
