Success often comes if you surround yourself, or model yourself after people with traits that you admire. Is there anybody you look to for inspiration or motivation?

Mine seem silly, but not to me.

-Dad
-Tony Robbins
-Dante Trudel
-Victor Prisk
-Fedor Emelianenko
-Bas Rutten

I have my reasons for all of them. I have no heros, just people I try to take life lessons from and apply them to myself. What about you?

My needs and desires are what motivate me and make me mold myself/my life around them.

MY CHILDREN... i want to do better for them..

No heroes either but my list is more general in some areas,
-Parents (no question)
-Teachers
-Military, Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, Doctors,etc.
-Volunteers
As far as well known people that I get inspired by:

-MMA Fighters (favorite being Matt Hughes and my good friend from middle and high school who's name I won't mention for privacy reasons but is also a prof. fighter)
-Lance Armstrong (every book I read of his inspires me)
-Craig Ferguson (read his books and he makes me laugh nightly, which is always needed)
-Bob Marley (for his message)
-A number of PM members have began to motivate me (thanks to all)
-And my best friend who passed when I was 19, has always been my biggest motivation since I was in elementary school.

Kinda vague in some areas, I'm sure I could add so many people when it comes to motivation from the super smart to the super strong but I would be here all night. So this is my core and a few extras thrown in.

The less fortunate, when i'm in the squat rack and i think no more, i just think about how many people out there without legs would give anything in the world to be doing that right now, same go's for running or anything. Never take for granted what you have !!

1. My wife, loves me for who I am, motivates me to keep going in life.

2. Alex Azarian, He always motivates me to stick to his plan and keep me going. A True Gentleman!!

3. Nelson Mandela because of what he has been through in life - such an inspiration to me.

4. This Board and some incredible people who are incredibly motivated and dedicated to the Sport and push to the limits.

I really don't view any person as my role model. I tend to look at principles and ideas as motivation. Things that can be done to make my life and those around me better. Things that I have power to change or improve.

well..

For motivation in the gym id say Shelby Starnes.. the other day i searched this forum for every picture/video shelbys posted from 2005 to now and his journey is amazing. Alot of other members here have really motivated me as well which is why im here so often.

In life i gotta be honest and say Joel Osteen.. His books have helped me in so many aspects of my life... That guy really knows how to get you thinking positive and ready for lifes ups and downs... highly recommend his books

If I'm being truthful (I'm often not), I would have to say my initial driving force was insecurities. Fear of losing rather than thrill of winning sort of a thing. Unfortunately this view takes some unbridled joy out of life. Don't get me wrong, I smile every day of my life without exception. I guess my point is to put in simplistic terms, if my team won a championship, or I won an award, I was not thrilled and jumping up and down with joy, I was satisfied that I accomplished what I had worked for and anything less would have been dissapointment.

While that motivation has not disipated entirely, as I've grown older (notice I did not say matured), I tend toward larger truths much more in line with what The Brick posted so eloquently.

With that said, I suppose my new motivation is The Brick!:)

I am most motivated by the dead presidents that are known for being on green paper.:D

Just to be alive healthy is a great motivation. Children with disabilities break my heart and they are my biggest motivation for giving thanks that I am well. I spend a great deal of time volunteering with children with disabilities and they give me the strength to keep going.

My four children are what drive me most. They push me , watch me train, remind me to eat, and are just so proud of me.

Oh yea, my ex-wife as well, just knowing that she is saying "damn, why did i leave him for a 120lb,skinny ass howdy doody looking f-er, with no ambition and 12" arms"

my daughter, and money (being honest) are what keep me going non stop.

1. my children and my desire to be the best at whatever i do

My needs and desires are what motivate me and make me mold myself/my life around them.

Couldn't have said it better myself

I completely understand that for many of you, your children are #1. Don't have any that I know of yet.

My insecurities drive me, but out of the people I listed, I like to cherry pick positive traits that I'd like my like to include.

I think having a "hero" is really corny unless you're younger than 12 years old. You shouldn't look up to anybody because no one person is better than another. Admiring is another thing. I want what a lot of those guys have in their lives to be in my life, so I try to let some of their actions influence the way I conduct myself.

kids for sure. They change everything. Make a the strongest man weak. Nothing I would not do for them.
