Very interesting read. i too had normal fasting and post meal glucose readings, but elevated a1c of 5.8 and couldn't make sense of it.

So the new and better standard would be to test for fructosamine? I'm not even sure my lab has it on their list.

No - i just got my sugars tested and this seems to make sense. I had an a1c of 5.8, but my fasting glucose was 86 and fasting insulin was 3.3. i was confused why my a1c was high. post meals i am usually 115-125.

so a1c does't always tell the whole picture is what that post meant and not to freak out. get all 3 done. i was on hgh 4-6 iu for a whole year just got off 4 weeks ago. i used berberine 1000mg before bed pretty much since jan not sure if that helped, along with cardio, diet etc etc. I used some humalog few times a week pre and post workout thats about it 4-6 iu not more than that.

my fasting glucose on HGH was always 110-112.

Check the source of your info. That guy is a loser fraud... Functional medicine is a cool, trendy term, but any personal trainer, joe blow can say he practices it. It does not even look like this guy sees patients.

Your A1C is 5.8, you got issues. Even with BG under 100 fasted you are pre-diabetic. Now check your cholesterol, bet that`s elevated along with total body inflammation.

The test deects glycation end products on hemoglobin. Maybe what he meant was that you got rid of 16% of the bad blood and replaced it with new blood that had not yet acquired the glycation end products expected and therefore your results were a little lower than would have been.

Your probably right. My A1c is always in the 6-7 range and it was in the 5 range so exactly it was lower
