Will working in a hot construction enviroment hurt my gains?

Hey guys I work in the depths of hell. Las Vegas and 4 floors beneath an unbuilt casino. It averages 105 and around 25% humidity where I work. I sweat non stop for 8 hours as well as climb up and down 12+ flights of stairs all day while carrying loads averaging 80lbs. I go through about 1.5 gallons of water a day before I leave work. So knowing my conditions should I still keep at my 3 days of cardio a week. ( 2 split 30 minute sessions per cardio day - 1 high intensity the other mild intensity)

I am eating 3500 cals a day currently while not on juice and still retaining 12%bf and holding at a steady 170lbs. Im about to start my next cycle(bulking), should I drop the cardio off completely?
 
For now I would drop the cardio and see how you go. I would try to drink more water though. Working like that you will need more water.

So maybe I should also drop the ECA's Ive been using during work to keep my heart rate up. What I dont get is that even after all of it Im never out of breath or really tired like after a good cardio session. So how could I be loosing soo much more weight? I see fat people everywhere in construction...LOL

a lot of the weight i dropped right away was pretty much water b/c i was sweating so damn much on the fucking roof tops. Then after working a 12 hour day..who wants to lift still? so in a way construction did hinder gains for me.
 
Sly, I fill your pain, I to I'm in construction in Texas. There are days when I have no strenght whats so ever but you have to tell yourself to get into the gym and do your best, drink plenty of water, eat heavy and as for what oldfella said listen to him. I'm still making gains but not as quick. Good luck

I know my cals will bump up to over 5k and water probably double. Thank god winter is right around the corner.
 
i do lawn care in florida. along with the craploads of water take in as much sodium as possible in the form of sea salt, i will put some in my palm and then throw into my mouth and drink down some water with it.

Holy shit! Really? That's hard core.

Also, working a job like that will hinder your gains. I worked on the docks in college and I could never gain an ounce. I was strong as shit though! It was a sweatshop, living hell, nightmare but in the end I was hard as nails.

I do pool maintenance and repairs in South Florida and when it's really hot I workout only on weekends if at all, so, yes, no gains in the summer. Kills my appetite too.
 
Drink you some Gatorade and water thu-out the day....
Go home after work and rest up, then get your ass to the Gym :)

I wouldnt do Cardio on top of that...sounds like your getting in your cardio
all day long.

Give us an example of what your eating thru- the day?
Im sure youll have something about 6am?
then 9am or 10am break? Lunch at 12? another break at 2? (or atleast a few minutes to down some food and a protein shake?

When its this Hot I keep my cooler Loaded and Right Close... Musclemilk Rtds`
Gatorade, Tuna, Lunchables, things like that.

you gotta understand that your shirt is soaked and your underwear are soaked with sweat. i can take my shirt off and wring it out, it's gross. lots of salt being lost in those conditions.
 
Drink

Dude you need to be right at 2 gallon of water a day! definitly slam some gatorade after a lifting session.

On your day off you could probaly drop back to a gallon.

I do indoor factory work and a gallon just does seem to be enough, and I still awake somewhat de-hydrated in the morning.

Your times are right on. I eat most my carbs by 2pm and start to dwindle down after 2pm meals. By Noon I have already consumed over 3000 cals (Food and Protein shakes) Thats a combination of 3 complete meals, and 2 protein shakes. At 3pm a nap another small meal before gym. At the gym around 6 pm - then dinner (carbless) then bed. Up again at 4am. I can get more into detail about the types of foods later Im off to the gym.
 
Work landscaping and everything above. Heat kills appetite bigtime
plus wears you out, increases chances of overtraining. losing lots of
fluids. what I do is workout early in the morning when your fresh.
eat good breakfest. Drink lots of gatorade and I take a few cans
of tuna with a can opener and fork eat it right out of the can. I think
this is where those LBA's that Phil sells would come in hand. I wind up
losing up to 10 pounds on a hot day. Pisses me off to no end.
Also watch taking salt pills, usually will dehydrate you even more.
 
You get enough cardio as it is in my opinion.. You should increase carbs and increase anti-cat. supp's like glutamine....
 
I've worked elect. construction before, I know how you sweat in the summer. I used to have a gallon thermos filled with ice water or gatorade. I would always have it by my side to drink constantly. Some guys even had heat strokes at some of the jobsites. I was shredded though from being on gear, t-3, and thermos. Its not easy, you have to push yourself to get to the gym. Usually I come home and take a nap, shower, and eat something; I manage to make it to the gym with caffeine pills or some other energy booster. Las Vegas must be brutal though, I can't imagine working in 100 degrees plus every day- must be hell.

water follows salt so as long as water is taken in you will not get dehydrated, just the opposite. people always blame potassium on cramps when it could very well be sodium.
 
The good thing is that it is dry heat / low humidity. But like most of the others have said already, you should be consuming a lot of fluids, and in your situation I would say drinks that have higher electrolites like propel or even gatorade.
