The Mountain Dog diet - guiding principles

Are there anytypes of free ranged/organic chicken that can be thrown into this diet? I know at least for my sake being a little younger and paying off my student loans eating like a bodybuilder gets tough and i can't always afford the grass -fed beef or natty salmon... the eggs are doable just wondering if there are any modifications of this for the poor college kid :( Awsome write up and the work you have done on Antoine V is unreal!!!

No where does it say not to eat chicken...most people don't/won't eat beef and salmon every meal. Chicken and eggs are great...just throw in some healthy fats.

Shit, I am in FL and would like to know the same. What part of FL are you in?

Tampa area. Looked into HOWA farms, rabitsetc, dam ranch but after what this guy said I'm unsure...overall further north the better

First of all, thanks a lot for all your effort John. Sharing all that stuff is really awesome.
Although it is much harder/more expensive to get all these specific food products here in Germany. But nevertheless it worth it.

A few pages earlier you shortly took up the purine-problem.
Especially as a bodybuilder you consume a lot of meat etc. Do you have any further thoughts, informations, experiences etc. regarding that issue?

John what are your thoughts on raw almond milk? does it have a place in the diet you recommend.

John,

I, too, advocate and employ eating about 75-80% of my carbs split pre and post workout. I train in the evening because I prefer the satiety element of carbs with my last meal, a few hours prior to bed. Many studies also indicate that eating most of one's calories/carbs at night leads to better fasting BG, better HDL/LDL, higher LBM and lower BF%, as well as higher levels of satiety. My personal experience would confirm that this applies to me as well.

I am wondering if you can provide your opinion about eating this way with concurrent exogenous HGH use. I take 5 units of HGH prior to bed, ~2 hours following my last meal (which is post workout and high in carbs - 100-200g). I do believe, based on human studies and my education in physiology, medicine and endocrine function, that using HGH at night is superior to using it in the AM if only one dose per day is to be had.

In your opinion, do you think that over time, using HGH so close to one's last meal of the day (high carb, post workout) would be detrimental?

John

thank you for your time you put on this and I just went and joined your website as well and wow so much great info on there as well!! I am going to enjoy that website.

Alot more info over there guys...diet and training strategies that are alot different than I could imagine.

Thanks again JM

After making some of the changes in my diet I can honestly say I have never felt better and bulked CLEANER. My energy is awesome all day, i overall just feel better... strength is constantly going up.

Grass fed beef
free range chicken eggs
coconut oil
kefir milk

Those are the biggest changes I have made from normal items and it has made a huge difference.. also intra workout nutrition has made working out with more frequency a possibility... i love the mountaindog way. Definitely worth the money to join his site.. tons of great info it is absolutely a steal.

I need to check out this board more often and just stumbled onto this thread. It seems like people don't mind coughing up hundreds of dollars a month for "supplements" but won't spend a little bit more than usual and buy good, natural food. The food is what makes you grow.

What are some foods that you guys cook in coconut oil?

The only food I cook in oil that I currently eat are potatoes.

Wow i know this is a 2yr d thread but what a killer article....

Sent from my Galaxy Siii Taptalk2

Thanks guys...I need to go through and reread it to see if I have changed my mind on anything. Also appreciate the mention of my website guys. It is only 8 or 9$ a MONTH....and I LOAD it with awesome info every month...

JM

My diet is heavily MD influenced. Just got a 12-month to his site--good stuff, I'll say that for sure.

Only difference is he'd probably try to get me to eat more overall kcals if I was working with him, but I think the food sources are on spot with his diets and the portions are ideal for my goals(slow gains and limtied water retention).

Lots of emphasis on coconut oil, gf beef, salmon, egg yolks, fish oil, and nuts as my source of healthy fats(and/or protein). Lots of egg whites, chicken as my source of protein and carbs like fruit, pineapple juice, yogurt, rice, ezekiel bread as my carb source.

EDIT: One food source(for proteins, fats, and carbs) I'd like to have is Raw Milk and I'd like to ideally have a cup a day, but it's not financially practical nor legal. Plus, it expires so quickly.

^^ Agreed.

His site it totally worth it every penny.

I do my best to follow most of his diet principles but it's hard since I am a broke college student lol.

The biggest impact MD principles has made on me is in my peri-workout nutrition. My recovery has never been better,

Is it paid per month? Just curious

Sorry to bump twice but damn thats a lot of info....
I read the article John wrote last night..
Tonight I read through all 36 pages and there was even more info (although it needed a little sifting)...

Old thread or not its a keeper..

I am in Australia and the only way to get RAW milk is to purchase shares in a cow, so you get your share in the cow's milk. it costs 30$ per share (one off payment) and 4$ per week for board (because the cow stays on the farmer's site). 1 share gets you roughly 1.5 liters per week, but you can buy as many shares as you want, and then the milk gets delivered to your door. I am going to buy a couple of shares as I think it is well worth the money.

or obviously you can buy your own cow but thats expensive as hell, and need lots of land...

our law is that it is illegal to sell raw milk (so you obviously cant buy it), but it is ok if it comes from your own cow, hence buying your own shares in a cow.
