Great post ...John emailed me and encouraged me when I had some serious health issues that he some background in and responded and gave me encouraging words when I thought my life was basically over. I can't imagine how devastated his wife and his son that was on his videos (yo yo tricks) must beOK, I just want to say something...
this might sound selfish as fuck and may seem like I'm making it about me, but I promise I'm not because I'm sure John effected so many the exact same way
John had always reminded me of my own father. the patience he had, how he wanted to share what he'd learned over the years with anyone who would listen, to the way he would interact with his awesome kids. I knew John very casually, we knew one another by name, a couple little details, and it didn't really go further than that
now, today, he passes at the tender age of 49; the same age my father died when I was 17. the good truly do die young... don't they?
ExactlyHow? From what?
He had a health scare recently but
had bounced back.
John was my go to-guy on everything GI.
Extremely knowledgeable individual!
What a loss for the BBing community
The fact that he has a young family really
hits home. THIS is making me rethink
everything!
I've been stewing over this for the last hour since the news was breaking. Still in disbelief. I had known John since about 2006-2007 - before he was a big name in circles. He was always just one of the most forward-thinking, intelligent, and genuinely nice people in this endeavor.
I'm rarely one to be at a loss for words but here I am. The world lost a good person today and I pray for him, his wife Mary, and his young children.
RIP Mountaindog.
