405lbs. on bench press !

just benched 405lbs. this morning . been trying to get up to four big plates on each side for a while now . i'm pretty happy and just wanted to let everyone know :D. guess i can shoot for five on each side now.....
 
great job bigmac, that's a good feeling, you'd better switch to double qtr pounders if you want to see 495 :D

its always nice when you achieve something for the first time. bext thing you know, 405 will be your working set and the new goal is 455.

I finally got there recently but my goal was always 500lbs or more while off cycle. So still a while to go but its great finally reaching some kind of higher level. Hell it reminds me back when I first started working out about 7 years ago. I just wanted to get to 315lbs and now doing it for reps. Its definitely a great feeling, congrats man. These kind of accomplishments is what keeps us going.
 
Great Job man!!! I have been clean for 9+ months and my goal has also been to push 500 all natty. Slowly working my way up, @315x 9 reps as of now, can get 405 for 2 on a good day. Anyway, Keep pushing the heavy wgt bro!!!
 
congrats i actually just got 405 for my first time on flat bench myself about a month ago for one clean rep. I used to like more volume but im really liking the thinckness that the heavy sets are putting on my chest.

always nice to reach your goal. try setting 405 x 3 for your next goal.

I second this, but I've noticed since Im gone past about 335 on decline, im starting to get some wicked tendinitis in my left shoulder. :(

Don't go down so far on bench. I used to have that problem a couple years ago. I would touch my chest with the bar and for my arm length it ends up going to far. I always try to stop at a 90 degree angle at the elbow. When I went down too far always the next day I would have pain in my shoulders and would last all the way till my next chest day. When I bench I end up stopping about 2 inches from my chest. After I switched to doing that I no longer have shoulder pain/problems.
 
haha im not going down all the way or locking out, I guess im screwed.
 
Great job bro! I was happy with my 3 plates per side for 6 reps today. Last set before burnouts so it felt pretty good.
 
1st off congrats...
don't mean to piss on anyones parade..just be carefull..since my accident 3 years ago with my pec being ripped in half..i have always wondered about proper training vs the need and wanting for big strength...now not even training chest at all...wonder how i would have been different if i could wind back the clock. just hate to see people get hurt..especially if so not neccesary..
