Happy Valentine's Day
Cue some nameless radio commercial: "Give her something that lasts; give her a diamond" or "show how much you love her and how much she means to you with a (Company name here) necklace" or "because she's a shallow cunt, and you have no redeeming mental attributes, and neither of you have any idea what commitment and sharing is, give her a gift just because you're supposed to and because she's expecting it and will break up with you if you don't"
Valentine's Day is bullshit. Like so many other holidays (Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas) it is a cesspool of obligation, empty promises, and hollow sentiment. The premise in itself is completely assinine and contradictory: do something special for the one you love on this designated day. How the FUCK is that special?? It negates the very meaning of the word. Giving someone a gift on the day you're TOLD to give them a gift is, in my opinion, actually insulting. Especially if you've done nothing "special" for that person all year. It's hollow. It's meaningless. It's obligatory. It's the exact opposite of romance and love.
The modern Valentine's Day has been designed for women too shallow and superficial to notice the obvious marketing schemes that have been targeting them from the day they were born to be docile and subservient consumers and for men too thoughtless and empty to care about anything but keeping their "pussy" happy. It perpetuates and enforces and even gives entitlement to the ongoing discrediting and marginalising of women as mindless china-dolls of materialism; needy and co-dependent upon their male counterparts to afford them some sort of self-worth through meaningless baubles and finery. It is disgusting.
If you really want to do something special for the one you love on Valentine's Day, don't do anything at all.
