ok this doesn't belong in a bodybuilding forum, but it was such a nice little fairy tale type story, i thought some of you might enjoy it!

Liz, a 21-year-old cosmetology student from Oregon left her friends and family behind to relocate cross country to Connecticut to live with Donny Wyckoff, a 31 year old police officer that she met playing online MMORPG World of Warcraft…and she couldn’t be happier. This is Liz’s story…
I've been gaming since I was about four years old. I started playing on my brother's NES, and the first games I played were things like Mario, Bubble Bobble, and Legend of Cage. I’ve always been a huge Warcraft fan, but when World of Warcraft came out I didn’t buy it straight away. At the time I was in high school and I’d kind of taken a break from gaming because I had a lot of other stuff going on. Then one day I walked into my brother's room and saw him playing it, and that was it!
I really like WOW because of the teamwork it involves and how social you become with other people. However, I absolutely never thought I would find my husband one day when I sat down to play WOW.
I had known of Donny for a long time -- and none of it was good! He always came off as a very rude, cocky and arrogant person. Just because of other people’s opinions of him, I wasn’t a fan, even though I had never actually talked to the guy. The top guild on Stonemaul, A Team, was looking for a druid, and I wanted to join, but my only reservation was that the raid leader was this Donny guy, who I’d heard so many bad things about. Of course, I didn't know then that he would later become the most important person in my life!
One night after a raid in Blackwing Lair, I found myself in a chat channel alone with him and we started to talk. I can’t remember exactly what we talked about now, but I know that that night I realized he was not such a bad person at all and that I actually liked him a lot. He was very worldly wise, and gave me a lot of good advice about some of the tough situations I was going through in my life at the time. Even so, I didn't think about having a relationship with him -- he was 10 years older than me, and I was only 17 at the time. We quickly became good friends, and talked in WoW or on MSN almost every night.
At the time Donny was serving as a sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserve. He’d been called up and I knew that soon he was leaving for California for pre-deployment with his Marine unit before heading to Iraq. I gave him my cell phone number, and we talked all the time he was training. One day he mentioned he had five days of leave coming up in February, and asked if I would like him to fly to Oregon to stay with me over those days, seeing as he was already nearby in California. I was kind of nervous about it because I had only known him about four months but I agreed. I took my mom with me to the airport to pick him up. The moment we met it was like we had already known each other for a long time. The first thing he did was pick me up and kiss me, and that was the beginning of our relationship.
I was pretty much blown away when I saw him in real life. We’d had conversations over web cams, but he looked very different in person. He was literally tall, dark, and handsome! I will admit I was instantly in major lust with the guy. He told me I looked more beautiful in person... but also a lot shorter! He is 6'1", I am 4'11"
Donny stayed with me and my family at my house over the next five days. When he had to get back on that plane to go back to California, I was pretty crushed because I didn't want to say goodbye. That night I felt so sad I ate a whole tub of ice cream.
He called me when he got back to California and said that the next month he would have three more days of leave right before being sent to Iraq. He asked me if I would like to meet him in Las Vegas for those three days, and just spend the time together. Of course I agreed, and a month later I hopped on a plane to go meet him once again. When we met again it was like we had never been apart. We went out to dinner that night, and he took my hand and told me that when he returned from Iraq in nine months that he would like me to move out to Connecticut to be with him. This was a huge step, but without hesitation I agreed. It was at this very moment, even though we weren't engaged or anything, that I knew I would marry him.
The night before he was set to return to Connecticut, I had booked a flight to Boston to be there that morning for his welcome home ceremony. That night was the night of the Marine Corps Birthday Ball, so we booked a room at the hotel where it was being held, and we had a beautiful room overlooking the ocean and the Boston skyline. I think I just about fainted walking out of the bathroom and seeing him there, looking so handsome in his Marine dress blues. He looked at me with a huge smile on his face, a kind of smile that I had never seen before. He turned to me and said, "Wow, you look so beautiful! But I think you are forgetting something..." I looked down at myself thinking, "What the hell? What could I be forgetting?" It was then I saw him reach into his pocket and pull out a little black box. He opened it, and inside was one of the most beautiful diamond rings I had ever seen. When he asked me to marry him, I said yes without any hesitation.
We knew from the start that it would be me who would move to Connecticut from Oregon. He had the Marines, and his career there. I was just fresh out of high school, and not tied down in the same way to where I was. Plus, to be honest, I was very excited about the idea of leaving my small town, Klamath Falls, behind. It was hard leaving my family and friends, but with technology the way it is now, it is very easy to keep in touch with people. I’d lived in the same house and small town all my life, and I will admit it took me a long time to get used to living here, and getting settled in.
We got married on November 25th of 2006, exactly 22 days after we officially became engaged. We worked fast, I know! It was a very small, traditional wedding. Only family and a few friends attended. There were no WOW touches actually in the wedding ceremony, but later that night we both jumped onto our PCs to tell our guild and gaming friends that we were officially married.
I could lie and say that things were perfect, but of course no relationship is perfect. We hit a really rocky patch a few months ago. Donny had just started his new job as a police officer, and we had just moved to a new town. Tensions were very high, money was tight, and we just couldn’t seem to get along for a whole month straight. We separated for a short time, and I left him and went back home to Oregon stay with my family. He contacted me pretty much every day I was there, but I needed space. It seems that a bit of space was really all we needed, because when he asked me to come home a month later, I did. When we met at the airport again it was like none of it had happened. I believe our relationship is actually strong then it ever was now.
I often get asked how I ended up here in Connecticut after living in Oregon my whole life, and I usually just say we met online because in my experience when I mention that we actually met on World of Warcraft it usually goes over people’s heads. I have had quite a few other people reply that they too have met their boyfriend or husband on the internet, but I only know but a handful of people who have met on online games like WOW. But I think it is a great way to meet someone as long as you are careful about it--at least you know you will always have the shared hobby of gaming as a strong bond in your relationship!
