A note on Red Yeast Rice

To answer your question Shelby, yes, some does... I'll have to re-check my bag at home but I believe mine does from purebulk.

Can I ask why the question? Are you wanting to get RYR while it still has lovastatin in it? Or, are you concerned about the lovastatin (as some get muscle soreness from it)?

I work at a vitamin / supplement store and remember a customer a while back telling me about a Pharmaceutical company trying to make it so Red Yeast Rice was a prescription drug because it was so effective at lowering cholesterol. I wonder if this has to do with the Lovastatin?

Yup, in my class, we went over this.

Plus, the new one that may piss people off is that 400IU of Vitamin D3 or more, in any consumer's hands, must be PRESCRIBED to them. Not official, but large pharma companies are pushing for this.

I used to subscribe to Consumer Lab (does independent testing of supplements) and they found in the ones that do, the levels are all over the place. Most being very, very low The only brand that had the statin levels claimed was Nature's Plus. Some other brands were also found to be contaminated with small amounts of citrinin which is toxic.
