I am looking to buy an air purifier for my small room (about 8 X 11). Which one should I get. I want the highest purity air because of crazy sinus issue.
Also, is it true that they emit radiation? how bad is the UV light
Kenmore (sears ) makes a nice hepa air filter. progressive 335. It is for a larger room, but it has several settings. I researched air filters for quite some time before i bought mine. Hepa is a great filter choice. Also the new oreck air filter get really good reviews. For a small room such as the one you need; i would go with the oreck.

but isnt it true that hepa filters need to be placed at the entrace of air source in the room. That sounds impractical for house use. I have a door and two big windows.
I have been using Austin Air Healthmate Plus for about 8 years. You have to replace the main filter every 5 years but other than that there is no maintenance needed. I did a lot of research before I bought it and it was the top rated model at the time. I did some preliminary research recently because my filter is getting close to being full and it seems that like they are still very highly rated. I have severe allergies along with 2 sinus surgeries for continual sinus infections; so clean air is a necessity for me.
I just bought two from Home Depot. They where about $45 each and work in that size room perfectly. Hepa filters + light. Very small and quite. They are honeywell brand/

The hepa filter should be on the unit itself, so any air pulled through will be filtered through the hepa. They're the only type of filters we use at the nuclear plant, for vacs, HVAC, and the large air purifyers all have hepa's in them.

I understand that, but my question is would the unit work if i place them in hte middle of the room. I am reading wikipedia and it says hepa filters need to be placed at the source of air entry into the room. However in my room, if i buy a portable hepa filter unit and place it anywhere will it recirculate enough air on its own. KAPISH?? or am i wrong.
So far it seems like the best to buy a liquid ion filter
Bought one for my son at home depot. It is pretty small. Just a hepa prticulate filter but we just try to keep the door closed as much as possible. It has made a difference. It was reasonable priced as well.
