High volume cardio (road cycling) and endurance while on TRT... good or bad?

I'm curious if anyone here has done any kind of long, hard cardio while on AAS (eg road cycling/mountain biking/endurance running)? I'm curious because I'm going onto TRT (testosterone replacement therapy), w/ high dosages of test enanthate. I've heard about high blood pressure and other things, but how will my cycling be while I'm on a cycle? I'm 27, 5 years weights, 8 years bike, 6'2'' 210 lbs, 15%bf (winter I tried bulking a bit). When it gets warmer out, I like cycling for 2 hours per session 2-3 days a week. Thanks bros

SacToSD,

I'm in my mid-fifties and am on TRT and have been for
about a couple of years now and I do a fair amount of
street cycling, weather permitting (I rode before and
after TRT) and I can tell you for strength and endurance,
it makes a world of difference. And in a good way.

I have described my training, both weight and cardio in
great detail on this forum. I'm not trying to blow you off,
just search my posts and you will get a sense of where
I am at with regards to all this.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info, bro. Did you catch the tour of california at all? There has been some good racing -- and some bad weather. Good times, though. I'll search the forums for your history/training info.

Yes, they finished in a town a few miles from where I live. Have seen
them every year. Lance was in town training (I missed him), gobbling
all the media attention from Levi. Levi lives close by. When home, he
trains at the gym I belong to. I see him now and again at the gym
or on the road. His training rides are crazy hard.

That's really cool... Levi is phenomenal out there. The closest I ever got to seeing these guys when I ride is when Chris Horner rode with the race club I ride with. He can do like 35 mph all casual like, the bastard. LOL. I'm right next to the prologue and stage 1, too (near sacramento), but too bad I didn't see them training out here... I would've tried to leech onto their wheels for a bit before getting shelled off.

No cycling. I ran a full marathon in october, but I'd been all natural for about 2 years or so.

I used to focus on strength training/BBing, and when i'd try to run distance, I felt like shit. I got skinny as hell with the distance running this last year, and did very little strength training.

Interestingly, I used to get heart palpitations regularly when "on." I've had sparse and relatively mild palpitations (heart "skips a beat") when distance running naturally, which can be fairly aggravating.

The point is, I bet if I was juicing the palpitations would be worse and more frequent, which would definitely be uncomfortable.

This year I'm returning focus to strength/size, and I will be curious to see how my heart behaves.

Incidentally, I don't think these heart anomalies are dangerous - just annoying.

Hmm, marathon training, eh? That's a lot of work. I've heard the same about your heart anomaly, but don't quote me on that. I just finished watching the Solvang time trial in the Tour of California, and Levi took it down -- up 8 seconds from the closest other finisher (Dave Zabriskie). Good stuff.

I have been riding road bikes and MTB for 15 years. I first was strickly an endurance athlete. I used to go on group rides with Levi 10 years ago. Fast little SOB. After about 5 years I switched to lifting and still road the bike for fun and health. It took about one year to start to gain any weight. I am on HRT. Obviously, the more weight you pack on the slower you become on the bike. You should recover quicker with more test, but you retain water. For endurance you will have more red blood cells (hemotocrit) and glycogen storage. I am 5'10 225 now and I was fast at 155. I can still get around for recreational fun and manage to climb a hill or two. I lift 3 days a week and ride the bike 10 hours a week. I think I have a good balance.

i love biking. in the summer i go all over the place, not professionally like you guys, just for exercise. sometimes i will ride my bike everywhere to take care of normal stuff (paying bills, tanning, getting groceries, etc).

besides saving on gas it serves two funtions:

1. covers all my cardio which i find EXTREMELY boring in the gym

2. i dont have to train legs as hard in the summer, or as often. i have some pretty good genetics for legs cause i was a fat kid, and i do heavy deads every week which hit my legs as well. when i pedal i use my toes so my calves get hit.

Nice. I wish I lived in a less suburban area, or I'd use my MTB for commuting/store trips. As it is now, I ride to the gym, and do some good suburban sidewalk shark runs (you know, sneaking up on suburban, jogging milfs and checking out their booties) from time to time.

I used to do a lot of downhill mountain biking. Then one day I cased a double badly, came crashing down on my seat, broke it in half, and cut about an inch slit in my scrotum. I haven't ridden since.

As far as doing mountain or road biking, you're good to go. Unless you're getting ready for a show or something enjoy yourself.

i also enjoy milf-hunting. there is a very nice park close to where i live, it runs along the length of a small lake and the park is designed for bikers, walkers, roller bladers, etc. i like riding behind some hot chic roller blading, enjoying the view for a while.

Dont blame you. Any damage to the scrotal area and Im outta there too!
