I am looking into it. I just got a blood test for my IGF levels. I think a few members on here may have a script but it seems pretty pricey.
What does it cost per IU?
Does insurance cover it?
Easy to get at your local pharmacy?
Thanks

the pharmacist at the compounding pharmacy where I get my refills for my test script told me that he know of no physician in my city that would prescibe HGH. I can't imagine that insurance would pay for that either unless you are a child with stunted growth issues and even if that..

I have heard it has been approve for adult use, if you can show you have low level. If your over 40, this is likely. I've also heard this is the reason for some china sources drying up. The drug crooks want the money for there greedy pockets. As for insurance, I have no clue, but plan to check into it.

There are memebers on the board who get it prsecribed with insurance covering. I have been going to various docs and they won't prescribe me any and i have a legitament health issue and my GH is on the low side. I don't know how old they are though. I m going to be 30 so maybe that has something to do with it.

I just checked my insurance website and they cover it but it looks tough. It looks like you have to go through a series of tests to prove your needs. I will see what my PCP says. Here in South Florida there are clinics everywhere for HGH/testosterone. I may be able to get a script but insurance probably wont work.

My dad(60years old) has been on 150mg cyp and 1.2iu's GH for the past few years. He uses those rediject pins from Genotropin i believe and its extremely expensive. Around $16 per iu. I got him on some blue tops and he said everything felt the same. Insurance did not cover it,even though he had low IGF levels. He goes to some private endo who has his own hrt program wigh gh/test/ flax oils,supplements,etc....

Insurance company denies...

I'm 39 and have a pit tumor. I have been tested several times...test levels below 40 and zero IGF-1. The gold standard test for GH deficiency is the L- Arginine push. You are infused with 120-160 cc of L-Arginine while in a dark, quiet room. Your not allowed to watch TV, read or listen to music. They draw your blood prior to infusion and then every 30 minutes thereafter for 5 hours. This will cause a gh spike in the most deficient cases. My tests revealed zero in every blood draw. I have a script form my endo for 2 IU's per day, yet my insurance co. (Regence/Blueshield) won't pay for it because they cannot see evidence of Pituitary distruction!! It costs $1500/ month from the local pharmacy!! So does the blame lie with the insurance company who won't cover it or with the pharmaceutical company (Eli Lily) who is charging a ridiculous amount for it??

Meanwhile I feel like I'm 80 years old and am slowly losing weight....

I would try to file a lawsuit against the insurance co. unless they choose to settle. Many times it costs them more $$ and time with lawyers and they may just settle if you mail in all your bloodwork,documents,etc....and its illegal for them to drop you for suing them, if that occurs you can sue for that. FuK insurance companies. Lowest scum on earth.

I'm "associated" with Eli Lilly and I've been told that it currently cost them about the same amount to produce Humatrope HGH as it does for them to produce a bottle of Humulin R insulin. These drug companies have the highest profit margin on just about anything sold.

I had a feeling this was the case...they even helped me appeal my denial to the insurance co. yet they refuse to reduce the price in order help the process. I'm not sure how to proceed....

i have a buddy that has done this you have to get this test done that i think enlarges your pituitary something like this that is the ONLY way ins. will cover.as for going to doc and getting script of course youy can as stated before that is what all this is about.they have finally realised that it is the fountain of youth and want your money to stay here and for us to pay out the ass.

I have a pitutitory tumor like VD does. I get blood work and MRI every 3 months. So I have pleanty documentation. Insurance don't want to pay and I have one the best insurance available.

Update

I got my IGF results and they are low. I found out that you can get generic compounded HGH for a cheaper price from a compounding pharmacy. I am getting retested in 2 months and if I am low again I can get some but the insurance wont cover it.

cant you file a lawsuit? Its illegal not to cover if you have documentation.

Insurance companies have contracts with so much wording and fine print...with the lawyers they have on their payroll you would never get anywhere. Remember they are multi-million dollar companies...do you think they got that way by paying everyones claims??
