Anyone who's torn a bicep??

did you feel pain and injury leading up to it or did it just happen without warning??

im not sure if i just have some bicep tendonitis as i keep getting a stabbing type pain deep in my bicep that lasts 10 seconds or so but stretch and flex and it goes away.
 
Mine was just instant. A loud pop and it tore from the proximal insertion. My friend and I were lifting a 600lb motor out of the back of my Tahoe.
 
I ruptured my actual bicep muscle and there was no warning or anything, just tore in half. It didnt tear away from the bone, the actual muscle ripped in half. My doctor said it was like sewing hamburger meat back together. It still doesnt look right to this day and its been since '06.
 
BALM!! See ya later. I was doing rack deads with standard over/under grip and the underhand bicep went bye bye. Haven't used an underhand grip on deads since.
 
i dont think you'd feel tendon pain in the bicep like you describe cuz the tendons arent there. my tendon tore right off my shoulder doin preacher curls.
have a nice peak goin on tho.
rotator cuff tendon tore at the same time. sucks.

Same here except deads from the floor. Over/Under Grip, got to lockout then felt my arm wig out and saw it start twitching. Placed the weight down and my bicep was rolled halfway up my arm. Full tear of the distal biceps tendon, needed it surgically repaired. No pain at the point of injury or afterwards, but excessive swelling set in 48 hours after.
 
Will bicep training once or twice a week help to prevent tears like this?

Would a natural lifter who is deadlifting 500 for 5 heavy singles be just as susceptible to a tear?

From what Ive seen they usually go without warning. Sounds like you have a serious strain. I'd be careful with it for certain. Have it treated.
