I just had a treatment called ESWT Extra Corporeal Shockwave Therapy for my calcific tendonitis of the superspinatis tendon(shoulder). The same technology they use to break up kindney stones can be used to help break up calcium deposits in joints if they crank the machine way up. It can be used on the shoulder, elbow, knee, or foot. Only the foot is covered by insurance and only by some plans. It cost $2,500 and covers two sessions, and has a 90% cure rate at one year out. Just wanted to let anyone know who may be suffering like I've been, I'll let you know how it's working in about six weeks when I try to lift again.

I have this bad in both knees.......Please let me know how the treatments go as I will do just about anything to make the pain go away from this...

Nice...hope it works! I,ve has my shoulder operated on twice for spurs.

how has it been going for you , i have just recentlly noticed a build up in my left elbow , i do very heavy benches and it has not bothered me yet , should i be concerned????????also it moves around when i touch it , i can easy push it around in my elbow with no pain

One month update. The acctual treatment hurts, they give a local painkilling shot and hold you up to a machine for 20 minutes. The first 2 weeks after the treatment my shoulder hurt worse than before, common if the injury is as old as mine. The last 2 weeks have been a little better. I have my follow up appt. next week, hopeing for the Dr. to clear me to lift, buts thats still probably a few weeks away.

I looked for this a year and half ago, but it was not available in my area so I just had surgery to get it removed!

I have it in both shoulders, calcifitic tendinitis...I want something done soon!

Six week update. Some days shoulder feels pretty good, other days it hurts quite a bit; I guess this is an improvement. Still no lifting. Have another follow up in 2 weeks. Try to remain optimistic about my recovery. How was the surgery for calcific tendonitis? recovery time?

8 weeks. Doc gave me the go ahead to lift lightly. Yesterday I fooled around with 10lb db's; I'm hurting today. It's gonna be a long road back. I can have a second treatment done in 4 weeks if I want, free of charge. Maybe surgery would of been better?

As per a recent MRI, I have bone spurs (8) on several of my vertabrae (sp). It looks wicked when reviewing the films. Doesn't bother me except for limited movement when bending side to side. Dr. said probably from too many years of squating.
