No not for a sub-q injection you don't

actually you mite wana try to pull back a small air bubble in your syringe and flick it to the plunger side, that way when you inject you can be sure that you have gotten your full dose and removed the dead space in your syringe...atleast thats what is done with fragmin and some heparin injections that are done subq that way the dosing can be monitored as accurately as possible.
