asus g71gx power adapter issue

I'm having an issue with the A/C unit for this computer. the one that the computer came with just last night stopped making a connection to the computer entirely, so i went out and purchased a universal one made by rocketfish with the model number rf-bprac3. now with this one it will only stay connected for 10 seconds to 10 minutes depending on computer processes. for instance, if im just sitting on promuscle or similiar sites that dont take much to load i have no issue, but if i go to youtube or try and run a game or video, it will short out and disconnect. in addition to this, when using the opera web browser i cannot log into my ATT email account, but i have no issues using firefox. does anybody know any possible reasons, or resolutions for these issues?
