I know u older guys must have same issues.here it is im 34yrs. old lift using Phill Herno, and DC. type routines.so im always trying to increase weight on a regular basis, well my hip cant take it anymore.ive tryed it all say leg press or squat with reps as high as 30-40 but still kills hips.normally i like to do 15-20 reps but my weights have gotten to be to much.
Ive also tried pre-exhaustion isnt how i like to train and still bad hip pain.
my only option that i can see is to do leg ext. legs curls ect. but know my legs well never proggress that way.Im in no way huge but legs proggress rapidly.

Well first off you have to figure out what your hip issue really is. I went through years of hip pain before I figured out what was causing mine, femoral acetabular impingement. This condition is extremely common, but surgery isn't the only answer, for me the answer was stopping leg press and only freebar squatting, all my issues are gone, pain free, squatting pretty heavy again. It took an ortho, two MRIs (both hips), and a lot of reading on my part to figure it all out. Best of luck.

That was my first thought, find out what is going on with them. I had bursitis in my hips from running to much, got a cortisone shot and it went away. But I had a long rest too.

Believe me; it is worth the orthopedic specialist visit, and the MRI to have a proper diagnosis before severe injury sets you way back in your training goals. Take it from most; the best time to stop an injury is at the first signs of pain, and before it becomes aggravated. Pain = eventual injury… period. Anyone who has a persistent nagging injury can attest to the likelyhood of you working through the injury…especially your hips.

kaladryn, ive had arthroscopic surgery on both of my hips in the last 10 months for the same problem and i feel great. for me resting did not make the pain go way it was constant.
