BCAA's or Plazmosis?

We are on a tight budget. One of my friends who is an MBA often uses the phrase, "Getting the most bang for your buck."

My question- what do you think offers the most bang for the buck: 30g BCAA's while working out OR Plazmosis before the workout?

D/T budget, I don't think I would take Plazmosis after the workout, but only before.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

BCAA's and Dextrose - it's cheap and works.

Phil , whats the benifit of adding the fat with the LBA's for workouts??

I thought that the LBA's and a simple carb would have been a good idea , what does the olive oil do?

haha, not sure either...

Yeah, I wasn't sure if Phil was giving advice or, ahem, cough, being a smart-alek, ahem, cough cough ;) haha

I see both products (BCAA, Plazmosis) being beneficial, but also, both do offer benefits from somewhat different angles, so maybe it's just a "wash", I don't know.

As I think through this, perhaps the BCAA during the workout would be more beneficial.

1) Plazmosis may give you more of a "feel" during your workout (yes it has creatine, some BCAA's, etc.).

2) But- BCAA's (which won't give you that much of a "feel"- some do get better pumps though) will be greatly absorbed during the workout by the muscles as they are insulin-genic and might offer a more positive nitrogen balance.

Or, maybe it's just a "wash" between the two... still open to ideas...

I'm currently using LBA's as about half of my protine intake and since I have started this I have noticed that I get better pumps , look "harder and more vascular even though I have cut the total protine back about 100g per day so the LBA's definatly work very well and I plan to use the hell out of them in the future as part of my "off season" diet plan.

I had thought that say a post workout shake useing say 30g of whey and
50g LBA's mixed with either Dextrose of Waxy Maze Starch (I have no experiance with either of these two) would amke for a great post workout blend but if olive oil has some sort of benifit lets hear about?

Everybody takes some kind of pre-workout formula, or some mix of something, but if i were you i wouldn't buy plazmosis, i'm not bashing it, but just wouldn't spend $50 bucks on a product when i can use something that works just as well for a couple of bucks. (JMO)

And what might that product be??

My guess...

The EFA's in the olive oil would serve as the energy source instead of simple carbs.

Yep

Yes indeed, 7 TBSP of LBA's and 2 TBSP of Olive Oil about an hour before my workouts give me the energy and strength to blow through my workouts. I also don't feel all bloated and full like I do when I drink a shake.

Final thoughts

Thanks for the input about LBA's, will keep that on my "back-burner" for sure to think about.

Phil- who cares if people don't want to hear it? I love science/nutrition/bio-chemistry/yadda-yadda so go ahead and teach it!

Final conclusion- someone noted about other pre-workout supp's that are great (i.e. eph, caff). So, I think the BCAA's would be the most beneficial in the long term.

Thanks for the input to help get my mind churning.

AND raise glucagon levels and, bla bla bla........you guys dont want to hear about it........it just has to do with growing muscle while getting leaner...........same ol same o

No, I DO wanna hear about it. I'm using something very similar to this right now with great results (high EFA, low carb).

It's working great for me as I'm finally able to "bulk" without adding bodyfat AND gaining a better quality look overall (like you said growing muscle while getting leaner).

I'm guessing the glycerine in the LBA's would act as the "shuttle" into the muscle cell instead of having to use a carb source to do the same (like grape juice), and like I posted earlier the EFA's in the olive oil would be the energy source.

I seem to remember a few years back Dante talking about good gains he was getting and attributing it to the addition of Olive Oil as everything else in his supplement regimen hadn`t changed.

1/ High insulin levels promote fat storage (well... high blood sugar levels would be more appropriated)
2/ A diet lower in carbs decreases insulin secretion
3/ You need kcals to grow muscle
4/ More of those needed kcals from good mono-insaturated fats (EVOO), less from carbs
5/ Less insulin floating in your blood > glucagon is released by your pancreas
6/ Glucagon increases fat release from adipocytes
7/ Amino acids & good fats as a base, carbs in the right amount (enough to replenish glycogen stores but to low to have a negative impact on the slin/glucagon balance): you build muscle and lose bf at the same.

IN THEORY, OF COURSE... ;)

You guys might want to look into Macadamia nut oil - it is high in monounsats like olive oil, but it has a better ratio of omega 6 to omega 3s (1:1) than olive.

It's a bit more expensive, but it also tastes better (a nutty, buttery taste).

Good point......look into walnut oil also

I find that Coconut Oil is the best for this situation (also a bit more costly than olive oil, though). Have you had any of your guys/gals try Coconut Oil?
