lol, Okay so I know that alcohol in excess is a no no. How much do you guys think it would hurt to drink a beer or two a night when dieting down? Because I look at the carb count and its just soooooo low(by the way im doing low carb).:confused: So what are your drinking habits for those who do drink at all?
 
the negative bout alcohol and cutting is that it has 7 calorie per gram, is calorically dense, since the body cannot use it for storage, it has to burn it off because it views it as a toxin, since the body wants to burn off the alcogol calories first, any extra calories taken in will not have a shance to be burned until the alcohol calroies are burnd, and they will most likely be stored first
 
Ohhhhh okay, I get it. So do you agree thats a not a big factor to drink a couple a night? I'm just looking at roughly 14 or so extra cals depending on what beer Im drinking.
 
You read the post wrong. It is 7 calories per GRAM on average. For instance a budweiser has 145 calories per 12 oz beer.
 
As soon as you put alcohol in your system all fat loss stops....don't ask me why cause I'm not a nutritional guru, but it has somethiong to do with the sugars and insulin ect.. Doesn't mean you cant look good and still drink, but have to keep it to a minimum if you wannaget ripped
 
Moderation is the key

I love drinking. Mixed drinks especially like diet soda and vodka, or crown. I would drink every night if it was healthy, but unfortunately it is not, so I do not drink when cutting, and drink in moderation the rest of the time.
 
I try and stick with red wine... Dont know any info on it but i may start a thread about it. Anyone else redwine fans?????

low carb or low cals it does not matter,alcohol stops fat loss fuck it smoke a joint j/k

alcohol and fat.. they're similar calorie/gram ratio.... so think of drinking a beer as doing shots of liquid fat

alcohol blunts fat metabolism.... so if you wanna burn fat, drinking alcohol is very counter productive

so two beers is say... two hours of fat metabolism gone down the shitter

EOD guiness or wine , thats what ive been doing for quite some time and it seems to be ok with my diet and training.

Sounds good!! lol Since Im a fan of lagers myself. I just tried Boddingtons Pub Ale, anyone ever try that? BTW, I just turned 21 this Sunday so.......
 
Thanks everyone for the feedback. VERY interesting. I actually never knew the science of why alcohol stops fat loss until now! So thanks everyone

Beer = Suagr = Bad

Beer is a lot harder to burn off than most think its more the sugar than the carbs. Arnold was just making you think he drank beer when he said Milk is for babies.:eek:
 
Bud light is one of my favorite cutting drugs. :eek: :D

hey man, im not too much older than you, im 23, but i have learned a few things, with the help of some people on these boards, i think phil might of been on of the biggest influences on this topic.

your young, you will never be a pro(thats not an insult), just have fun. workout, get big, stay in shape, whatever it is you wanna do. im not saying to drink like a fish every night, but if you decide to get your buzz on every once in a while, do it!!! the weights will always be there but your young age and having fun is only once. like i said, im not saying become a mess, quit working out, and start doing heavy drugs, but do what you wanna do even if it might slightly effect your bodybuilding goals. GOOD LUCK!!! :)
