Hi BigA

I was just wondering if you still advocate the principles you laid out in your growth principles for beginers article and your thought on full body workouts EOD.
 
I still advocate all those principles 100%.

I always found whole body workouts to drang on for too long and as such not being able to do 100% effort through the sets.
Plus, some of the larger muscle groups need more than 48 hours to recover and grow optimally.
 
I started using Big A's training princilpes about a month ago and I have to say I think it has kick started my gains. I was training three days on and one day off prevoiusly and I think I was slightly over training.

The only thing that I do not like is when the day finally gets around to work a body part again it is very soft and feels out of shape. But after the workout it feels great. The pump comes right back and I feel huge. I am making big gains in strength and size right now.

A side benefit is I have been recovering from shoulder surgery and since I have been resting it more between workouts I have been able to go as hard as I want with near zero pain.
 
I agree with these training principles Big A. When i started training at 16 i did the standard volume training 5 days a week with no real set program. I made decent gains. But it wasnt till i started training Mon-Wed-Fri that i started to see better gains because iwas getting more rest.
 
Big A--any thoughts on the PRRS routine that has become so popular these days? I've started using it about 6 weeks ago and with every passing week, I'm able to lift more and more weight. Would you recommend your 3 days/week routine to someone who's not on any AAS?

I don't know what PRRS is.

3 days per week is efficient for both natural and enhanced people.
 
^ well you answered my question right there so disregard my PM BIG A. I do have a question though. Of course everyone knows you got to lift heavy to get big.

I like to think that when I lift with a spotter, I can lift more because he's there helping me that extra couple of reps. But what am I to do when I don't have a spotter? when i don't have a spotter I try to get the heaviest weight I can do by myself for a decent amount of reps. some people call it cheating when you have a spotter but i would like to think different. Even if I might not be puhing that last rep 100% by myself due to the spotter, I think that's better than doing a lesser weight correct?

When you are doing you warm up sets and just fatiquing the muscle you don't need one. When you get to your working set, just ask someone. Most people are willing and happy to give you a spot as long as they are between sets or exercises when you ask them.
