I took lisinopril for years and one day woke with extreme angeoidema. I thought my lips were going to explode. This is actually not uncommon to have a reaction to an ace inhibiter even years after using it. That stuff is poison! I was rushed to ER as the concern was my throat would swell shut. Been on Telmisartan for about 5 months with lower BP and no sides.

My lips are about 150 psi here....I normally run them at 30 psi lol. It is 100% attributed to lisinopril. I am lucky it didn't get my tongue or throat. Primarily bottom lip, then moved into top lip and cheeks.

When my doc prescribed it he failed to mention that his a a potential side effect short or long term?

Keep in mind, I used it for 5+ years before my body finally rejected it. I worked with 3 different cardiologists and an allergist (doctor)... all said the same thing. It is highly effective BUT can cause angeoidema as side effect with no rhyme or reason as to when or why.

Works better for lowering BP then Telmisartan, as far as I am concerned.

Olmesartan or Benicar Generic - thanks for the info pesty. I'm maxed out with Telmisartan at 80mg/day and that keeps me on the higher end of the healthy window for BP. Would like to see if bringing down my Telmisartan dose and adding in Olmesartan would bring my average BP closer to that bullseye marker for BP while having my overall dose for the day lower than 80mg. Already checked, like you said, both are in the same class and can be used together.
