Bodybuilding on keto/carnivore diet without carb ups

Yeah I'm not massive by any means, 40yo, 5'8" approx 12%bf, 220 carb loaded, about 205 depleted. Quote a difference to me anyway. But thank you all for some of the recommendations, I'll check some of them out for sure.

same age and trying to kind of get back to the gym, life kept me out most of the last year and still sporatic at best but i feel i owe it to myself at this point to get into decent shape before touching aas. trt only. so very single digit bf. i dont need keto to get there, and im traditionally a fat guy. im into singles as is but not single enough. lol

while out of the gym i kept test 100ishmg wk now doing 50mg or so 3-5x wk. its all about diet n training once you put the time in.

basically if sort of diet with lower carbs. i havent stressed much of anything yet but getting to the point where ill have to put a little more work in to get where i want.

love the work brotha
;)

Cracker, I respond extremely well to low carb diets and have played around with a lot of things to try to maintain as much fullness as possible.

1. as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, keep sodium very high. I use a few boullion cubes and drink a few cups of the broth a day in order to get an additional few grams of sodium.

2. Keep your water intake high

3. I've never done this, but tregar on here runs a very low carb diet and he says that mk677 keeps him full and because of the low carbs, he mentioned he experiences minimal if any bloating.

4. This works extremely well, got it from Charles Poliquin a while ago, but instead of having carbs post-workout, you'll have a post-workout drink containing:
-whey isolate (or EAA or any other protein you like to consume after training)
-glutamine: (I consume 20-40 grams post-training)
-glycine (1-15 grams)

Work up slowly on the glutamine and glycine as they can upset your stomach if you start off too high.

Utilizing the whey/glutamine/glycine, I feel I get more than enough glycogen replenishment (without affecting insulin levels) to keep me full for a while.

I think the glycine is your issue... Glutamine helps heal the stomach lining. If anything it should negate some of the GI distress from glycine.

Yes, I am willing to run 500 to 750mg of test for a cycle...that is total mg's, as I run test only. Considering most stack shit that easily equal or surpass that, I'd say it's about as healthy a cycle as you can do. And yeah fat loading is a thing, you would know about it if you've ever been into or tried a ketogenic diet. I've been doing this for 20 years and I was soliciting information from people that have experience, you don't sound like you do.

No, healthy as can be is when you run a cycle that keeps you within normal testosterone ranges.

i did 300-360pro, 50-60 carbs and 75-90 fats for 6 weeks straight no carb ups, no cheat meals. i gained muscle and lost fat actually. but have i mind i still had a bit of carbs and this lasted 6 weeks.

Here is a photo carbed up, not a big dude but any smaller and it's pretty noticeable to me anyway.lol

You look good. What you are doing seems to be working for you.

yeah dude, i think you can probably lower the test dose and keep most of your size if you pay good attention to diet and training.

i think doing that actually might help make you look a bit tighter and maybe LOOK a little bigger in the end.

worst case try to lower the test n add gh or peptides.
peptides rock for dieting, except the hunger. lol

you look good but i think with a lil more attention to minor details you will look better with less. :lightbulb:

good luck!

yes, exactly.. i learned this the hard way. christian thibaudeau wrote an article years ago talking about using 5-15 grams of glycine. I said what the hell, and used 15 grams the first time... it was not a fun experience...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to tinker with some things and see.

:yeahthat:

I would recommend eating lot's of beef (which you obviously will be doing). Lot's of greens as well. Added salt to each meal. Drink lot's of water. Perhaps some added creatine but if you are eating beef all day it doesn't really matter. Although 1kg of uncooked beef as approx 5g creatine so supplementing is still beneficial. Perhaps some HGH or MK-677. A typical pump product wouldn't hurt either (citrulline, arginine, glycerol etc). If bp gets elevated a small daily dose of cialis could be useful as it will help with bp, prostate, vascularity and pumps.

Personally as they are two completely different mechanisms, I would never increase aas in place of carbs for any certain effect. I would base it strictly in experience and what I’m wanting to get out of the cycle and what sides I was willing to deal with.

I would never recommend carnivore as you are cutting out a lot of important nutrients.

Keep in mind you can get away with some carbs on keto. This number is a bit different for everyone. BUT a little cheat is you can probably get away with an extra 20-30g intra workout without kicking yourself out of keto, and you will get some awesome benefits from it. Likely a good pump, some energy, and some of that fullness you want.

Keep sodium high
Keep water high
Plenty of magnesium
Eat plenty of beef
Organ meats
Whole eggs

No need to jack up AAS, Gh or peptides help some.
I look fuller when taking creatine and glutamine daily.
Electrolyte's are the most important thing in helping keep a fuller look.
Was straight keto for about 14 months during triceps surgery, then I added in a one day carb up when I was fully released for training ...CKD

I feel a CKD is by far the best way to go in terms of fat loss, feeling good, and looking your best.

IFBB pro Brad Rowe has been on the carnivore diet for the past few months so his social media accounts or recent interviews might be a good resource.

I checked out this dude, thanks again man, good guy to follow on IG. I'll have to watch the YouTube videos. He still looks really full on strict carnivore and throwing 24 to 48 hour fasts occasionally. Awesome!

Thanks brother! I've heard some guys needing as much as 10 grams of sodium. I might have to look into sodium tablets, the broth and bullion get old quick.lol. I do sip on water with sodium bicarbonate(baking soda), No Salt(potassium) and lemon juice during workouts. That Brad Rowe dude still looks pretty full on carnivore.

Just keep in mind he's a pro bodybuilder. Yeah he's not a top tier or even really mid-tier pro, but he's still a pro, and his genetics are way ahead of ours.

I think that 10mg mk677 will be great in your case
You could also try carbs preworkout only

What did I get wrong? 🤔

He only wants to only eat protein/fat, no veggie/fruit (keto would be 80% fat so he is NOT keto), but wants fullness like he has eaten carbs. Yea, it does NOT work like that, lol. It`s always from the guys saying "I been doing this 20 years".

Gluconeogenesis is unavoidable if not already in keto.

Why fucking debate if you just want people to tell you youre right? The fact of the mater carnivore can work IF YOU GET HIGH END PROTEIN ONLY, no chicken breast or turkey were talking salmon roe and wild caught tuna, if not youre micronutrient spectrum is garbage. BPak said his food bill would be over 1k a month if he had to pay for most of his carnivore diet.

Go ahead and say all these elite athletes are doing carnivore so it works, fuck for all you know there on 10g of T and synthol.... Almost any diet can work, but the fact of the matter is if you cant get bigger or get leaner with carbs you're not going to have much luck without them.
