Hey fellas,

I'm getting a new boxer puppy the 15th, Do any of you have experience with this breed? I've read a lot about them. I'm pretty pumped about it. Thanks

My brother-in-law and my niece both have boxers. They are great dogs and are a lot of fun. I have an American Bulldog and would never own anything else. :D

hope you have some room for it to run. they are super active at points in time through the day (and very lazy after!). very personable and loving dogs, especially if grown up in a loving environment. we introduced ours to childlren early on. apparently some boxers are aggressive around children however ours nor any other boxer I have met has ever been.

i agree completely, you better have the room or the time to excersise that dog if you get it bro, i got a male pit and a female boxer, and damn she is full of energy, i got about 4 acres for them to run on and she's wears the living shit out of my pit, he is now one in shape mofo because of her...LOL

my boxer is a big attention whore..LOL she must have your constant attention at all times and she's like 2 yrs old. the most loving dog i have ever owned! if you got the time and patience i would recommend a boxer to anyone!

I got a 10 month old boxer and he is a big boy...Crazy energy, but still lazy...Sometimes he just sleeps all freakin day...then at 10 at night he is going crazy running all round the house...He is a major attention whore for sure...he will keep bugging us until we give hime some lovin...Best dogs ever though...

Haha bump on the attention whore...they are so strong and powerful dogs if your rubbing another one, that dogs ass is getting pushed out of the way haha.

They are agressive for sure. I know somebody who has a huge scar from one to prove it, and a fat bank account now from the settlement she got, lol

best dog you can get imo. i had a male that lived 10 years. he was more like a human than a dog:)

oh man I have a white boxer that just turned 1 year last week. He is insane he weighs in at 75 pds eat like crazy shits like a horse needs huge amounts of exercise annoys the hell out of you because he needs so much attention sleeps in my bed feels like sometimes he loves everyone else but me needs to wrestle day and night. BUT I would never give him up. One of the best dogs I have ever had. We get up early and I can take him on a 45 min bike ride all out and he just wants more usually I have to take him on another bike ride later at night when it cools off just to get him to wind down. Not having someone pet him is not an option you need to give him attention period. He is great around kids babies and adults. Kids will tugg on his ears pull at his jowels and he just licks them in the face. I will post up some pics later.

My buddy had 2, 1 died. 10 years is probably on the long end of their lifespan. I heard they don't live that long.

I have had fawn and brindle male and female boxers for sometime. They are the best big dog for families. They are devoted and incredibly loving. They do require alot of exercise and love your attention. They are fantastic with kids, not sure if you have any but, they are great social dogs if you ensure you train them. They can be a little spastic if you don't take control early. They do not usually live to be very old. We have an 11 year old that is not doing to well. They are favorable to have tumors when they age. Enjoy them because you are in for alot of fun! Good Luck!

I have an 18 month old. Everything I have seen and read says they are great around kids. thanks for telling me. how old were your kids when you got your boxer?

I'd like to see the pics, there was a white one available that I thought bout getting but read that they were more prone to health problems than the others so I just went with the fawn

not my kids, i was the older brother in this situation. had a younger brother who was around 7 at the time. we also had family over quite often who had kids that ranged from 2 yr on up to 14. they are just great dogs in general and sociable as everyone has said.

my friend has american bulldogg/mastiff puppies right now.
can you tell me more about this breed with your experience.

American Bulldogs are great dogs. Some have the build of an English Bulldog but are taller and larger. Mine is not that type. She has a longer nose and more closely resembles a Pit Bull. She tips the scales at around 90lbs and is very muscular and athletic. Very family oriented dogs that love to play and run hard. Check out www.bulldogbreeds.com for more info. Mastiff's tend to be more laid back and they sleep a lot. If you want a Mastiff then look into South African Mastiff's. They are similar in size to a Bullmastiff but more athletic.

used to breed boxers. very active if socalized they do great with kids! they tend to have short lives due to heart problems and cancer. I would strongly sujest feeding raw. There are a few boxers i know eating raw that are 15 and still kicking great. I have been feeding raw for a long time and will never feed dog food again.

Allin, it depends on the mastiff and what kind of Am Bull the parents are if it will be a good dog. I second the south African boerbol great athletic mastiff. I've trained a lot of them and may get one myself.
