I am thinking of doing another show next spring, so I would like to continue to make good offseason progress, but would this be possible if I incorporated some hitting on the heavybag once or twice a week? Im just curious if some bag work could be thrown in a couple times a week without overtraining (back/shoulders) and hindering gains. Obviously I realize I will have to work my diet according to this, but is there a time that is best to do it? post workout? off days? ANyone else incorporate bag work into their routines and still make good gains in the gym?
 
Hiya Bro, got your pm buddy. But seen your thread so I will answer here if that's OK with you. I did go jogging and hit the bag twice a week, I don't do it at all during my contest prep to preserve muscle. I am starting back this Sunday night and then every Sunday regardless if I am training with weights that day or not, I am training EOD to pack on some size.

What we do is hit the treadmill, light streaching, bag work, pad work and some grappling. This time around after a few weeks, we will get a boxing coach one week, jujitsu coach the next and so on.

I cant help feeling it hurts my gains, but its only once every week and with all the physios out there I like to stay on top and keep my edge on things.

Being big is a advantage, being big and knowing how to use it is the unfair advantage.:cool:

that small bag that is hooked to the ceiling and floor that bounces back at you is def a cardio workout
