It's 3 days into the new year and I know many guys have big plans for this contest season. There were a couple of good threads about plans for the new year and your goals for 2008. I read a couple of things today as well as listened to a Justin Harris interview and began thinking about a couple of things.
Can you be perfect in 2008?
What I mean by this is how consistant are you going to be? Are the meals going to be there every single day? Can you be as close to perfect in what you are doing so when you step on stage you can say I did everything I could and be happy regardless of the outcome?
It seems like many people worry about things like how much waxymaize they should be taking post training or what drugs to stack but leave out such an important part of the equation. Without getting those 5-6 muscle building meals in everyday over and over again, it really does not matter what you are doing in the gym or anywhere else for that matter. I know I'm guilty of neglecting this. The dedication to eating is so important and I'm not sure why at the age of 31 it just now becomes a priority. I thought I was doing things right but I was falling short. I think any one thats going to compete owes it to themselves to try and be perfect. I actually wrote this and stuck it to my mirror. I think as athletes, competitive or not, we need to make sure we are doing everything we can in and out of the gym. Respect the body and phyisque you are trying to build and it will do the same.
