what bars do you eat?

I stopped messing with them all together too many calories and not enough protein to justify it.

i thought about it because at work sometimes i dont have food and i just get too hungry so i thought these bars would help me so i'm not hungry through out the day

The garbage - good stuff ratio doesn't work out.

If you're serious about this sport you'll find a way to pack some whole food and take to work with you. I prepare all my meals for the week when I travel on sundays and weigh them out at work. If I know I'll be stressed for time I pre-weight and pkg it all and just whip it out when I need.

Worst case scenario bring a shaker with you and do a 50/50 whey casein mix plus some olive oil or oats or both. Don't do the protein bar crap.

ok.. thanks for the advice. what kind of food do you pack?
i thought about chicken sandwich, tuna, ham, turkey. or even egg white in a container..? when i get home i eat a good meal

you know what

try tri-o-plex bars

40 pro
carbs from oats
400 cals

i'll chew on one before training

I agree with VT - do everything you can to have whole food or a shake available.

But if you absolutely HAVE to have a bar (I find this hard to imagine), this one is not so bad:
Bodybuilding.com - VPX Zero Impact Bars - High Protein Mealbar! On sale now!

I bought a box and keep a few in my glove compartment, but I've never been in a situation where I had to have them to replace a meal.

I tried them at the expo at Nationals and the ingredients were decent so I bought a box.

Yes sir! When your in a pinch these are great. Try the cookie dough, you'll like it. Another option is Detour oatmeal bars. They have about the same macronutrient breakdown, just not as tasty.

I pack a whole shit ton of 99% lean ground turkey (or at times 93/7 lean ground beef) in one tupperware container. I always carry around loaf of ezekiel bread, a large container of old fashioned oats (keep above my desk), and a bottle of olive oil or mac oil and a jar of almond butter. That way I have whatever I need on hand. I also have a digital scale at my desk that I weigh my food with.

Thats understandable, everybodys life and routine are different. FWIW I like casien protein for shakes because of that reason. I even sleep better at night after having one. It sticks with you kind of like good oatmeal.:)

if you go to the recipe forum i think there are some recipes in there for homemade protein bars.

I like the Metrx protien plus. 32g protien and carbs, 8g fat.
I wouldn't eat the one you listed, it's just way to much fat for the amount of protien.

The VPX bars are great in a pinch but not filling at all. I just like the fact that the purpose of the bar is to have as little impact on blood sugar levels as possible.
