If its software related, then yes you can easily setup a desktop connection to fix your problems on windows, linux, unix or mac.

If it is a hardware issue, however that will still require some hands on experience.

I have done it myself for quite a few guys on the boards when there OS went wonky.

if you allow someone access to your computer online he can do any repairs that only require a keyboard from any location. However, you better REALLY trust that person as he can now access any and all information stored on the computer.

And that right there falls under computer ethics and how you choose to conduct yourselves once you have the admin privileges for any system. :st:r-wars

I do it all day for my customers at work. If you ever allow a tech to log on to your computer, it's easy enough to protect yourself. I recommend setting up a temporary admin password that you can delete when service is completed. That way they can't log in later when you might not be looking.
