As a side note my Dr gave me a script for Valacyclovir just incase i get it again. I have had it on hand since i got shingles.

When I had shingles I was given Valtrex. I never wanted to take that shit but it started working from the very first pill. I will take that if I ever get shingles again.

And I may be wrong but I have been told the chicken pox vaccine had live weakened virus in it that allowed for the shingles virus to enter a person. I nor my mother recall me ever having chicken pox but I did have the vaccine.

Same. My face was tingling for a couple days. I was telling people about it but didn't put two and two together until other symptoms presented. I never thought I'd get shingles so it took me a day or two to decide to go to the doctor's office.

As I had a nasty case of chicken pox when I was around 11 years old, just realized that it was time for me to go get this as slacked off too long so gone and got it. Best thing to do!

When i was diagnosed with shingles, i did not know i had chicken pox in the past either. I only remember being really ill once as i child and thought it was the measles. My mother didn't remember me having the pox either, but my siblings did. So i was exposed even though i may have only had minor symptoms at most. In my household growing up you did not want to stay home because you were sick. It meant laying in bed with the lights off, no books, no TV, no radio, nothing, with brown paper bags taped to the window to keep out the light and you laid there staring at the ceiling till you went back to school. I didn't miss much school!

To all the older men with shingles - have you checked you PSA?

I've shared this story a few times in relevant thread and will relate it again here. A few years ago my dad got shingles. While he had it he also got his yearly physical - and his PSA, which had always been normal, was off the charts high. My dad thought it was due to shingles; his doctor said he'd never heard of such a thing and if it was he'd put him a medical journal.

They did a free PSA test and it came back in range. His doctor told him to recover from shingles over the summer and they'd check PSA again later.

After he recovered from shingles he had his PSA checked and it was back to normal. For extra peace of mind his doctor also did a CT scan and told him he had no trace of cancer in his body.

In my dad's case it definitely seems like his shingles caused his PSA to greatly elevate.

Thank bro much appreciated. I pray every night to not ever have shingles again it honestly terrifies me. I was lucky my guys that work for me were watching me like clock work and if they heard me they were there in a minute. I would actually go into a seizure position for about 1 minute 1 1/2 minutes while the nerves fired off in a cycle from my eye to the back of my head it would lock my shoulder and head where I could not move the pain was surreal I thought I would die.

Every country that I know off is 50yo, but that is for the gov to subsidize it.
You can get it earlier, you just have to pay for it.
