I want to congratulate Shelby and Darrin for there awesome preps and for sharing with us. I didnt say much but was glued to all that was happening.

Placings are totally out of our control. I mean, we have all been on the short end of the stick.. If you compete, you know what im talking about..

At the end of the night, in each weight class there is usually one guy stoked with his placing.. and we all know who that is... the guy who won! And the rest of us busted our asses for 16 weeks or all year long and have to wait till next year for redemption.

Last year I had the prep of a lifetime. I could not possibly believe how well my body responded, the condition i achieved etc.. Some rookie ass mistakes, and 30 seconds on stage to show what 365 days of work accomplished and it was over in a blink of an eye..

Battle back my friends battle back! Bodybuilding is a journey that never ends... for me it doesnt.. I have more shit going on that can possibly imagain.. heck we all do.. but bodybuilding is my passion, im hooked, im addicted to the training, the cardio, the diet.. Some guys drag their feet in the gym. I say go home!

I love lifting, i love the pump and actually cario is like mediation for me. I often close my eyes and like to be in a quiet room alone. You have to trick your mind to enjoy it, if not you will hate it and your body wont respond as well.

Especially now. I love every workout. Im in a zone, a feel like a robot, nobody can knock me off my stride.. This is what we do, day in, day out!
Bodybuilding is a lifestyle. And sometimes its tough but you battle on and share the journey with us.. Im not mr know it all. i have learned allot about bodybuilding i have learned allot about life from others

Keep in mind guys, you cant just prep for a show in 16 weeks, it take 365 days!
p.s sorry if my thread went from big props to Darrin and Shelby to my passion for training.

Couldn't have been said any better!

Great post Alex.

Darin and Shelby looked great, but went against some very good competitors. They both achieved very good conditioning and represented themselves well. At the end of the day that's all they can control so major props to them!

Good post Alex, I like to add, you can't control what competitors show up, but one thing you can control is how you look from year to year. Always strive to be the best you can!

This is so true.. You really do not have control over who shows or even how the judges judge you. This is why you cant judge a competitor based on a bad placing. We have all been there. I just always suggest that one finds out were they need improvement and make the changes.

Bump this. Bodybuilding is NOT like competing in a running race, where the winner is easy - its the first guy accross the finish line. Unfortunitly we have judges who's job it is too LOOK for our weaknesses, not our strengths!!

Bodybuilding is process, a long, hard process of constant development.

For most of us, our toughest competition should be ourselves, not the guy standing next to you. Beat yourself and you'll be a winner.

Thanks Alex. I appreciate your insight and attitude.

Shelby and Darin both did their homework in preparation for their shows this year. The tough part about competing is that you only get that short amount of time to display your very best.

Everyone saw how great you really looked and much respect was earned. Good job taking it to a pro qualifying show..
