If size/proportion/bodyfat really were the most important things then there wouldn't even need to be a contest where guys get on stage. The truth is in the previous posts, it's whatever the judges want in a total package. Judging in competitive bodybuilding does NOT have to be subjective, it could be extremely methodical.
This is what would happen.
Step one-: Size (displacement)
Bodybuider would be put into a dunk tank and the height the water rises would be recorded.
Step Two- (proportion)
Judges would measure your muscle bellies and and waist, these numbers would be plugged into some algorithm that compared the proper ratios that Sandow deemed fit for the perfect body and a number would be spit out.
Step Three- 'Conditioning'
Bodybuilder gets into a bod pod and lean tissue is measured.
All of these numbers would be put into a formula and weighted according to the importance of each individual variable. The person with the best number wins...
NOBODY WANTS THAT
Bodybuilding is more than that. There is personality, struggle, the capacity to pose, being a politician, being able to sell yourself. I think these are the things that are truly judged (to a point), some of these things are judged on the stage ALL OF THEM are judged off.
To me, bodybuilding is a way of life and the rest is just a beauty pagent.
Politics and preference are what give competitive bodybuilding personality.
