Ok, I was Deadlifting today. I'm sure my form wasn't great but this guy said that I should put my feet wider and my hands closer....he said it was sumo deadlift...cause you can use your hips more.he said I was using my back 2 much which he was more then likely correct on that.....I thought that you could do deadlift with feet shoulder width apart and standard grip would be better...which way and what grip do you all use?
 
I think it depends on how you're built. I use sumo form for deadlift. The distance to pick up the weight is only like 18" - but then again, I'm relatively short.

I use standard myself-I am trying to body build and my ass is as big as it need be. Go with the form your most comfortable with IMO.
 
I go close grip but fairly close stance on rack deadlifts.
 
The main thing I think

Is that you feel "comfortable" with your form, and your grip (whatever that may be). Dealfit are by far the BEST lift for overall size and thickness PERIOD! You can tell if a person has gone and come back from years of deads. Its one thing to be lean and muscular, but if you want the bodybuilder look , and have that "powerful" look..then Deads are they key
 
absolutely, deads build you like nothing else. just do whatever is comfortable. i'm relatively tall w/ kind of long arms and i use a shoulder-wide stance and slightly wide grip.
do you do it like powerlifters with your legs relatively straight or do you squat down. i have made huge gains in strength and size by not squatting down.
