Background:

32 yrs old,5"9, 201, 26.7% BF, lifting on and off for 20 years, but have gotten more serious the past 5 years.

I was 240 @ 35% BF about a year ago, but have made some adjustments to my diet and my training, I am happy with my results but still have yet to hit my goal.

GOAL: 12-15% BF%.

Current DIET (Example of what I eat each day)

7:00 am Morning: 2 Scoops Whey Protein w/ 1% Milk + an Apple
9:30 am Snack: Orange
11:00 am TRAIN
12:30 pm: 2 Cans Tuna + Banana (yes, I eat a lot of fruit)
2:30 pm: Protien Bar
4:00 pm: TRAIN AGAIN (usually Cardio only)
5:30 pm: Egg Beaters (3 eggs)
7:00 pm: Dinner - Usually Chicken + Veggies (or any other lean meat)
8:30 pm Snack - Can be anything from left over chicken, to a handful of Almonds (I try to get in about 10-20g protien before I go to bed)
(also, I generally only drink water. Im not a soda fan)

Current Training
11:00 am
Monday: Chest + Abs + 30 min Cardio
Tues: Bi/Tri + 30 min Cardio
Wed: Legs+ Abs + 30 min Cardio
Thurs: Back + 30 min Cardio .....then at 7pm I have yoga
Friday: Shoulders + 30 min Cardio
Sat: 45 Min Cardio
Sun: REST (thank God!)

Right now Im doing a 6-6-10-10-12 routine. I like the heavy weight upfront. Its a good change.

4:00 Training
5 days a week - Run 2-3 miles on the treadmill

I spoke with a Pro at the Gym and he said my diet sucked. He didnt expand, but mentioned to me that if my diet was more in line, my results would be much better. Right now I feel as though Im losing weight, but im also sacrifcing more muscle mass than I would like too. I dont want to be a smaller me, if you know what i mean. I would like to retain as much mucle as possible. I feel as though for every pound of Fat I am losing, I am also losing a pound of muscle (That just a mind set, i have no stats on that... but thats what it feels like)

By my calcuations I am around 200g Protien per day, but from what I am starting to realize its not only what you eat, but when you eat it.

You know my stats, my goals, and what I am doing right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to tweek my diet to get better results.

If you think maybe I should hire a trainer on the board for a diet plan, please suggest someone. I would be happy to explore all options.

Thanks in advance for the advice. I have been a reader of the board for a long time, I know that sometimes the advice is harsh, but I would rather get an honest opinion than none at all.

YOU SHOULD CONSIDER HIRIRG SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP. WE ALL HAVE OUR OPINIONS BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD THAT SPECIALIZE IN PLANNING NUTRITION AND TRAINING PLANS FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF. IT IS RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE AND IT WILL TAKE THE QUESS WORK OUT OF IT.

12:30 pm: 40 GRAMS WHEY PROTEIN, 60 GRAMS SIMPLE CARBS(yes, I eat a lot of fruit)
2:30 pm: 40 GRAMS PROTEIN, 15 GRAMS FAT
5:00 pm: Egg Beaters40 GRAMS PROTEIN, 15 GRAMS FAT
7:30 pm: Dinner - Usually Chicken + Veggies (or any other lean meat)
10:00 pm 50 GRAMS CASIEN

thats an improvement. use healthy fats like flax seed, fish oil, all natural peanut butter, or almonds. use low fat protein sources like chicken, tuna, turkey. if your going to do cardio along with your weight traiing, do your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, or immideietly after weight training.

choose one or the other...you shouldnt do high carbs and high fats...not unless you are super lean and have trouble gaining...which you are obviously not

Not to be disrespectful to previous poster with his "Paris Hilton" comment, but I didnt take his advice anyway.

He has 13 posts, and stole the Paris Hilton comment from drob29 from the "diet critique" thread.

Im going to hire Phil, most likely.

He didn't say high fat, just more fat. Which he needs to do. He needs to completely redo his diet not just add protein to it. He should be eating the same ratios everymeal and why no fat milk. Personally I would only drink real milk, no fat is loaded with sugar.


Bro, hire Phil...he is really good and will get you to your goals. Phil will teach you how to eat to get to your goals in a healthy way that you can maintain and take with you for life. Phil is more about the general health of his clients than taking radical approaches that aren't healthy but may get you where you want to be faster.
