dieting for my first cycle

I am dieting down before I do my first cycle. Has anyone heard of Ideal Protein diet? I have been doing it for 3 1/2 weeks now and dropped almost 30 lb. They say I can't exercise since my calories are so restricted. My LBM is right around 200 and I tipped the scales in the beginning at a whopping 305. I am thinking that 225-230 is a good goal to shoot for. I am relatively strong and was in wrestling and football in high school, but let my weight get out of hand over the past 5-7 years (worst portion has been last 3 years), but never stopped lifting oddly enough.

The diet has me eating limited carbs and low fats and high protein (Ketosis diet from what I can tell). I figure I am only eating 1000 - 1400 calories a day and anywhere from 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon of water a day. I am monitoring my bodyfat so I can watch where I am losing weight and so far the majority (95-97%) has been fat, so that's good.

Once I reach a healthy weight, I am planning on a small cycle to regain the muscle that I lost and adding a little if possible. Could someone comment on this...

Thinking 8-12 wks total. I like the shorter ones so it puts less stress on my body and I may recover faster from being shut down. But at the same time if I am tapering I think 12 wks would be the better option. Also... what do you think about taking extra test e for the first two shots to sorta ramp up the blood levels?

Test E 300mg E3D or twice a week (mon-thur) so 600mg/wk

I have 10mgx100 dbol but have not decided if I want to throw 20-30mg ED in for a few weeks.

I have nolvadex for gyno if it were to show up.

For PCT I have been reading A LOT and am planning on tapering the dosage down over a couple weeks at the end and use nolvadex if necessary.

All criticism welcome.

If you need stats they are not that pretty

6' currently about 270-275 lb
roughly 200 LBM (tested w/a bod pod)
lifting for almost 10 years now
eating: not lifting right now due to limited cal but after done with this diet it will be chicken, fish, turkey, some red meat, eggs, protein shakes, veggies for slow carbs and fiber, and a lot of water.

THAT IS BECAUSE DIETS ARE THE HARD PART:rolleyes:

Please hire someone who will educate you more.

Fair enough, but in all actuality I had somewhat good eating habits. I normally eat: lean protein, veggies, and rice. My problem was portion control. The other large problem was working 40 hours at one job, 20 hours at another, and going to school. Fast food was always faster when I had a chance to eat.

The idiot that told me that I cannot exercise is the doctor that put me on the diet... the same person I meet with every week to do measurements and what not.

I understand that I will consume some muscle. I have pretty much come to terms with that. I would rather be 220 lbs with a little less muscle than 300 and really fat.

Any diet that has you so restricted you can't exercise is terrible. Also any diet that is low in carbs and low in fat is bad. You need fuel and protein alone is a bad way to go about it. For someone in your situation restricting carbs is a good idea but you need fat. Especially healthy fat. Fish oil is a god send. I personally take 2 Tbls not teaspoons every day. As said above get educated. Before I even thought about a cycle if I were you I would read either the Anabolic Solution for Bodybuilders or the Anabolic Soultion for Powerlifters. Learning to manipulate my carb intake changed my life.

In addition to the food, I am taking some multi-vitamins, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. I also consume a certain amount of sea salt and olive oil. I am very skeptical but it seems to be working so far. I have read a lot and actually was going to school for exercise science and nutrition so it's not that I am not knowledgeable. It is more of a "do as I say, not as I do" type of thing. I am tracking it pretty closely. I am hoping (accepted) that of the total weight lost it will be about 90/10 to 85/15 percent fat to muscle... If I see results that prove otherwise I will definitely look into hiring someone to build me a diet and work with me on my goals.

Once again I appreciate all criticism, critical and encouraging. Keep it coming.

Yeah but you dont have to be either!! I def. suggest either reseaching more about the right way to diet down or hire someone to help you. 30 lbs in 3.5 weeks is alot of weight to lose...but after seeing your diet I can see why you lost so much so fast. You are pretty much starving yourself bro. Take advantage of the memebers here at promuscle that know how to diet the correct way. I can guarantee they have forgot more about dieting then your doctor ever knew. Trust me ....if you get the right help you will come back to this thread in a month or 2 and thank us!

No offense, but telling us that you work out and have good eating habits after saying you have over 100lbs of bodyfat is a little crazy.

This diet is not something you can maintain long term and be healthy. You need to work with someone who can teach you a diet that is reasonable to continue as a LIFESTYLE.

That doesn't mean you can't lost weight quickly. I am not currently working with Phil due to a lack of cash but I am following the diet he gave me previously and have lost 25lbs in 4 weeks. That is not quite as much as you have lost BUT I HAVE GOTTEN STRONGER AND FEEL BETTER on this diet.
A diet that you can't excersize on is not somethign you can turn to long term.

For the sake of argument lets say that you are, as you implied on top of your diet - you know when and how and what you need to eat... maybe you just need accountability. That is the same answer: work with someone who can help you.

There are way too many great guys on this board to try to do it by yourself.

Congrats on what you have lost so far and your dedication for the last few weeks. Seeems like you have the right attitude about it. Just don't try to do it yourself - let someone help you.

Best of luck!

I would see another Doctor. What degrees does this guy have in nutrition? I bet none. He is perhaps the first Doctor I heard, that tells someone not to exercise for weight loss. Have you seen The Biggest Loser, on TV? Some of them are 400 pounds and they exercise. Alot of them do gain the weight back, because guess what? They starve them too! This guy is starving you and that shows when you can't do exercise. You are dropping weight fast, but I guarantee some is muscle. This starvation diet is not healthy and your body will reject it evidentually. Eating well should be a lifestyle and not something that you can't do all year.

Thank you all for the varying feedback. I am going to finish what food I have left with my current diet and am in the process of "interviewing" the personal online trainers through this board. I am sure I will find one that I believe I will be able to work with. I will keep everyone updated, but once again thank you.
