does this training routine sound right?

Looks ok except I do arms as one day. Tri's and Bi's and have a two day break. The rest is pretty much how I train. It works well FOR ME. Give it a try! Any new routine or change from the norm is a good thing.

I do a very similar split myself. I woudlnt train abs on day 4, just take that day off from gym. I also do biceps and shoulders in the same workout. I train 2 on, one off, three on, one off. 2 rest days per week. I like to hit calves 3x per week and abs 2x.

Looks so-so, but if it works, it works. What's your reasoning behind it? Training quads, hams and calves on one day and then splitting up upper body onto separate days seems a bit disproportionate, and I don't like doing that, but I'm sure it works for many. Similarly the first three days has chest, back, legs = a lotta workload.. I like to even out the workload in my splits, but again that's not done by all. IronMike
 
yea i would ad abbs to my chest day and do tris with bis... Then give yourself the weekend to recover and eat and eat...

What about the nervous sistem, do you think it is enough one day to recover? In my opinion that is called overtraining. Why wouldn't you work the back in the same day with biceps. You are working your biceps anyway when you do back , that meaning that you work them twice. Why not combining your abs training together with back too for example, allowing yourself more days off for recovering. As far as I know growing doesn't happens in the gym, but in the day off when you eat , sleep and rest.
 
If you do chest/tri's in one day, why not put back / bi's in one day as well and get an extra day of rest to avoid overtraining?
 
Without doubt best routine for me in years:

Monday - Chest, Calves
Tuesday - Back, Bis
Wed - Rest
Thrus - Legs plus(one drop set for calves)
Friday - Shoulders, Tris
Weekend - rest, eat, catch up on sleep

1st set:3x8,6,4
Rest of Body Parts: 2x6,4
Blow thru in 30-45 minutes sessions

Chest: bench, incline, pullover, dips
Calve: Stand, Bent, Machine
Back: Barbell Pull, Chins, Lat Pull, Deads (3)
Bi: BB Curl, EZ Bench Curl, Concent Curl
Legs: Squat, Press, Extension, Straight Leg Dead
Shoulders: Seat BB Press, DB Press, Laterals, Pullups
Tris: CGrip Press, Skulls, Pressdowns

I tried BigA's 3x per week (M,W, F) but I tend to get in trouble and need more time in gym to keep me honest to myself and others. Best!
