First, I would like to specify that I love working out and looking great, but I don't consider myself a 'bodybuilder' in any way.

I don't train abs, do 30 mins of cardio 3-4x a week, and follow a pretty loose diet and still see abs? I lift pretty heavy, 5x a week, and I guess that's enough to keep me fairly lean. I fuckin love eating carbs, I can feel a whole body pump about 20 mins after I eat them, and it is awesome. Best feeling you can get in the gym IMO

Does anyone else eat shit, low intensity cardio, and still look ok? What's a small adjustment you might make? (I'm natty, but not by choice)

I eat very clean and i have once... Never been a person to be able to get lean like that...

hmmmm...

i got married while back didnt workout for 6 months and ate BAD having maybe one or 2 meals a day of fatty food and then would gorge on crap every few days and then would drink on weekends. still had abs.

i have had abs my entire life tho. those 6 months after i married was most i ever slacked in my life and still had em to some degree just weren't as sliced as they are for shows.

bit of genetics i suppose. -JS

Sounds you likely have well developed abs, would bet that you probably have a hard time getting lower back detail though? It seems people with very flat abs tend to have more of a struggle in keeping them defined (but have an easier time with the lower back). I think the amount of cardio you're doing too is likely a factor. When I lean out for a show the most I ever do is 20mins 4 times a week.

Yup, just the way my bud I see in the gym from time to time has chiseled abs and his diet consists of Hoss's, Denny's, etc. and gets hammered on beer a few times a week.

Yeah I got abs even when I eat crap.

But it's deceiving, because I can still have love handles and a fat ass and yet, somehow, abs.

I'd trade them for NO love handles/back fat and clear abs. Sucks.

I can eat whatever I want and I have never been over 7% bodyfat. The negative side to this is that I have a difficult time putting on size. The biggest I have ever been was just over 240lbs but I was eating so much I simply felt horrible most of the day. Also just because I can eat whatever I want does not mean that I eat crap all day. I still eat pretty well because I don't want to have a heart attack when I am 40 years old.

Hell I can eat whatever I want and I stay pretty lean but like one of the other guys said, I have a hard putting on weight. I wake up every night around 2 or 3 to use the restroom and I drink a 500 calorie weight gainer.

Height and weight?

x5 you fucks!

When i was younger I always had abs. I was a walking stick too. Changed when I got older. Now I just have to look at carbs and I gain weight...

Growing up, I was a chunky kid. Never saw my abs until I competed for the first time at 19 years old. Then they disappeared from view again for the next few years. These days, I've got my nutrition to the point where I never lose sight of them, even in the offseason. I think everyone is capable of this, it's just a matter of learning how an individual body handles nutrition and training. It's amazing what the proper nutrients, introduced to the body at proper intervals, can do.

i keep my abs year round. they are very defined with great obliques as well. my diet is mostly in check. i do have an occasional cheat meal but i have a weakness for sweets. i eat sweets (cake, cookies, ice cream) on a regular basis.

Actually my lower back is pretty good as well, but I have a pretty wide waistline. It's most likely from heavy squat/deads. I hear that as long as you train heavy on those two lifts, you burn a shit-ton calories and work your core just enough for defintion. It's been workin so far:D
