Elbow pain ???

Lex, are you saying to avoid wearing them regardless of the pain?

let me ask you this ...when you wear them does it in any way conceal pain?
you put them on the "warm up" and they feel better?

all I can tell you is this....I had major elbow pain for a stretch of about 10 years...most of those so bad I couldn't lift a coffee cup..

I did just about everything you could do...name a therapy and I did it.
All I can tell you is if you perform a lift and it hurts don't do it. If it does hurt in anyway you just reset the healing clock...if you feel anything tendon ligament related its a 4-6 week process of healing that has one key essential part...keeping the site inflammation down...the second you do something and feel the smallest twinge you will have inflammation at the site stopping healing.

so yes I am against wraps. not in the sense that you are squatting 4 plates or something and you wrap your knees...that's different. You are doing your heavy presses and your wrist feel more secure with wraps...ok i guess but then you are aiding the weak link in your system to stay weak.....

I don't wear a belt either but that's just me...

I do use lifting straps ...on some rows and pull ups if i keep a loose type grip I seem to have better results with my elbows that way.

Just what worked for me and quite frankly I have never heard of anyone getting rid of elbow issues with anything except avoidance of what hurts...in one way or the other....

and before someone says it...yes BN had some great suggestions for aids to reduce inflammation...you can use NSAIDS too if you don't care about your body...but if you feel that pain and think I will ice take something to reduce inflammation...its a loosing battle....its good for maint....type thing...but for this acute pain we are talking about its like shooting a spit ball at a tank.

my fuckin elbow hurts :banghead: boo hoo

yeah lex im gonna go light and see how it feels, if it doesnt get better i will have to find what works. db flyes?? that blows, but hey gotta do somethung cos this aint cutting it at all.

Triceps Brachii1-4 Trigger Point Diagram

Take a look at the link and see if the pain referal chart for the triceps and see if the pain you are having is in the red areas as shown. I deal with people who have been diagonesed with tennis elbow, golf elbow, tendonitis etc. but it is simply most often overlooked for just trigger points and myofascial pain. If you read the pain complaints for trigger points in the triceps I bet you will find a great deal in common with your current elbow pain. This is all generally speaking b/c I cannot physically see you and test for these, but I would bet that you do not have tenoditis, just a tight triceps that is loaded with trigger points and shortened so it is giving you the symptoms of tendonitis.

In my opinion what you should do is find a GOOD neuromuscular therapist in your area, schedule an appt pay the 70 or so dollars and give it a shot. We all workout on this board, putting consant stress on our skeletal muscle which can cause trigger points which when active then creates referral pain much like you are descibing. The most simple and effective methods can also be the most overlooked. I bet in the long run if you get the treatment, or treaments you will save yourself not only the needless pain you are going through but also money and something you cant get back time.

Yeah, I have the same thing... in both of my elbows. The pain has been there pretty constant for the past 2 years. Skull crushers kill my elbows so I try to stay away from those.

I definitely feel your pain brother!!!

I just recently got pain in both elbows. I now switched to high volume and seems to have little to no pain. Sucks real bad especially since I'm still new to this.

it only hurts when i actually push on the elbow bone itself, nothing in the surrounding tissue

Do you have any pain with any tricep exercises like skull crushers or pushdowns, or does it only hurt when benching?

yeah also with those excersises.

You may have a bone spur on your elbow. The triceps take a lot of abuse and over the years that constant pulling at the elbow can cause enough calcium to build up into a bone spur. About 2 years ago I had one on my left elbow that had been getting worse and worse and finally broke off on the last rep of my last set of benching. I had to have surgery to have it removed which involved them making a partial tear in the triceps to get to it and then sewing it back up. Then last March I had the same thing happen to my right elbow except this time it happened during overhead dumbbell tricep presses. I decided to tough it out and hold off on the surgery for several months due to financial and business reasons and ended up completely tearing both bands of the right triceps back in June on my first vacation in several years. Looking back on things I would have listened to my body better and realized that while I can suck up the pain mentally, I can't prevent more damage from being done. I guess what I am trying to say, is go see a sports medicine specialist and get it diagnosed and rectified before it gets to the point where you don't have a choice.

Both of my elbows were wrecked, and after trial and error here is a few things that have helped alot...

1) Cissus and Turmeric.... the cissus alone works wonders, I get mine from TP. Really allowed my pain to heal up. The turmeric is also great for inflammation but if you take too much your ass will be on fire when you dump the truck, lol. It is a great overall supplement for the body, I get that one from Life Extension, which makes alot of good products. I find that whatever TP doesnt make Life Extension or Himalaya are good brands.

Probably being a dumbass but who are TP? Also, what is you say adequate dosing of cissus and tumeric would be at 166 lbs?
Thanks,
Sd

I have issues with my right elbow off and on all the time. I really dont think its golfers elbow or tennis elbow. It is pain right on the dam bone pretty much. The pain comes and goes and aleve, elbow sleeves, and bio freeze helps some but in all honestly I think the only way to really fix elbow issues is to just take off like 6 months or something.

I just ordered some APT elbow wraps and I am going to give these a shot. I am planning on using one only on my right arm.

Here is a link to them

deca?

gotta agree w/ baldnazi deca is the best for lubing/watering but not a cure, hold off on bar bench and try lighter dumbells for a while worked for me and helps a lot.
gh is awesome for repairing but as we all know will take time and you need to lay off big weight for some time for any injury brother.
good luck big brother

I would avoid exercises that aggrevate your injury. Maybe next chest workout, do a pre-exhaust with flyes prior to benching so you won't have to go so heavy to reach failure.

I get pain in the tendon below my tricep, above my elbow when i do skull crushers... so i avoid them now.

You got a bit greedy with the strength gains eh? Been there.sounds like
your tendons are giving you some grief. back the wt down a bit.
animals pre- exhaust sounds like a good idea. you can use much lighter wt on your pressing. throw in some rest pause. sounds like muscles are getting a little ahead of connective tissue. Ease up and use some other methods to generate intensity in your training. Water based test suspension some times gave me painful elbows. There was big strength jump and I got greedy with the poundage and fucked myself for meets a couple of times
Warm the elbows really well and stay hot . Good luck

The only thing that will really let it heal is time...things like cissus will help, 8-10g a day of good omega-3 fish oil, deca may lube the area and fill it with fluid but does little for healing, gh will basically make the tendons more pliable and "younger" but it all stems from overtightened tricep most times...

I suggest whichever of the above therapies you are comfortable administering, along with either MUCH lighter weight until it heals OR some time off. Many times this can also come from an imbalance in strength...bi/tri ratios way off. Also, over tightness in the forearm muscles.

I suffer from the SAME pains you describe and it ALL began when my weight and strength went dramatically up YEARS ago when I first started figuring out that I needed high dose AAS and lots of quality foods to grow...

For me, time off is a must. Several weeks without all that added pressure on the elbow. I do fish oil at about 6-8g a day. Cissus most of the time as well. I don't like deca but I LOVE gh and have used 2-5 iu a day for a year now. I still hurt some but at least I can train where before it got to a point where I could NOT. Constant inflammation and PAIN was getting severe. One more thing...and almost the most important - massage and stretch that tricep DAILY. Of ALL the suggestions this one is most likely the only that is a necessity. If the muscle is overtightened this is the only way to reduce the pain's CAUSE. Also, since elbow pain can be tightness of the forearm musculature I would spend some time working on that as well. Sports massage (deep tissue) focusing on the forearm and tricep 1-2x a week would be money well spent. Ice the elbow itself, and give it time. If you continue pushing it heavier and harder, you could be looking at a torn tricep in just a couple of years time....

Once it is better, I strongly suggest continuing the massages, fish oil, the gh and the stretching. Also, I would take a look at your wrist angle and hand placement when lifting to make sure they are correct mechanically.

Regimen?

I have had medial epicondylitis (golfers elbow) for 2 years. Visited a sports doc 2 yrs ago, and again last year. Got an MRI and it revealed a SLIGHT tear in the tendon, not severe.

Have had 2 cortizone injections, but they only help for a week or so, then pain comes back. I've also tried taking time off. I basically have not trained for a year. Also had ultrasound, as well as stretching and PT but to no avail.

I have just been dropped by my health insurance (thanks, Highmark), I am trying to put together a combo of supplements, gh, creams, peptides and as a last resort - AAS-Deca (because I can't lift heavy). I have some Alflutop on order.

Here is what I have so far:

Alflutop
Cissius
Tumeric
GH
Fish oil

Any other suggestions? I'm dying over here!

ALFRESCO sounds like mine exactly. i can start light curls once the muscle gets pumped the pain is gone. or if you squeeze the tendon right at the begining of the bicepe and behind the lbow there is no pain. as it turns out i have fraid tendons most likely from full extension preacher curls.

i have tryed all kinds of therapy cortosteriod injections nothing has helped. i think HGH would do the trick for rebuilding the collagin but doc wont give me a script. there is platlet inriched therapy i have heard good things about and may have found a doc to do it. but light weght arms for now i can do pushing motions just fine.
