I had my first opportunity to train a couple of the strongman events yesterday. It was a big eye opener! Technique and conditioning are vital to sucess.
The first thing I tried was tire flipping. I'm not real sure how much the tires weighed. I think the first was around 550lbs. That one was easy to flip. The second was somewhere between 700-750lbs. It was east to get it off the ground but the transition to standing the tire on end was difficult.
Second was the farmers walk. It was a helluva test of my grip endurance. I have no idea how much the implements weighed. The first 2 trips went well but the 3rd wasn't gonna go. My grip was shot by then. I don't think I have a problem with grip stength but my forearm endurance needs some serious work.
Today I hurt all over. My claves, bi's, forearms especially. I was great fun though.
