My fiance is finishing her Masters in Physical Therapy and the other day she says that I am getting to big. I am currently 210 lbs., of which is almost all muscle with a bit of water retention. She has seen me grow over the years from 163 lbs to my current weight. Have you been told that you are getting to big? She says that it is unhealthy to gain 20 pounds in just over 2 months and bodybuilders live shorter lives on the average. It really pissed me off because she does not exercise at all and I have been lifting a better part of my life. I told her that she is crazy! Any thoughts?

Fiance eh?

Considering that she's your fiance, I would say that she's exerting her control going into the full blown commitement thing / marriage. It sounds as if she's letting you know, "Although you were the pants, I have balls too...".

Obviously she knows that you've dedicated yourself to building a strong, muscular physique - and obviously LIKES it - but now you're in the point in the relationship where she's being honest and/or giving in to other people telling her that you're getting too big, and she's buying it.

Of course, I deal with some of the BS every now and then - especially from people who have no idea what it takes to bust your ass in the gym and see results. For the most part, it's people who either:

A) Don't do any type of physical activity that is for thier health - i.e., zero recreation

B) Doctors

C) Jealous people

And I deal with alllloooott of jealous people at the gym. Espcially trainers. They can't stand that I'm bigger than them and talking down about idiotic "personal trainer methods." Too bad.

But I digress:

Yes, I get told I'm too big and then just reply with:

"Nah. It's just that you're too small."

its better to live 7 years as a Lion then 10 years as a sheep.

Some of the things we as a communitiy do may not be optimal for our health that is proly true. I think the only one who can tell if you are too big is you.

Yea, I get taht a lot too...and I am not even that big. It really is a comment that actually makes me pretty mad for some reason...it just shows how unaccepting society is as a whole towards BB'ing...it kinda sucks.

Nice response....and you are right. I think option A is the most popular for the comment makers.

I will remember that one. I like that.:D

Personally I dont know if getting big gives you a shorter life, but my opinion is that I dont care either.

I dont want to live to where I cant wipe my own ass. Thats too much for me. So I hope my time ends before something like that happens.

their taught what they want them to know, just like a doctor.does she still believe in the RDA? BY the way it hasn't been changed since 1967.i got into it with my 400lb nutrition teacher because she told me that i only needed 35 grams of protein a day.i told her i eat at least that per meal 6 times a day,she went into a tizzy telling me it's going to cause me to go into renal failure.i shook my head and laughed, then told her to open her eyes and read current scientific data it's changed in the last 35 yrs.

well according to the medical field you are obese, how obese would depend on your height.so considering what she's been taught your breaking all the rules:rolleyes: i would just try to tell her to research more than what taught her, she's not crazy she's just been trained to think like they want her too.

Never let negatitivy harm your progress. You can never be too Big.:)

my girl said the biger youre legs get,the biger youre dick aint:(

Tell the fiance her masters is in Physical Therapy NOT Bodybuilding and Nutrition! BAHAHAHA If you were gaining say 8 pounds every week for a short period of time then yes, it would unhealthy, to much weight to fast.(JMO) However, gaining say 1 to 2 pounds consistantly every 2 weeks and spreading it out over 2 years????? Come on, no person with a valued nutritional degree could ever sneeze at that!

Sounds like you need to show her a pic of the shark on the other thread and tell her "see this poor bastard? look what happened to him after he insulted me"!!!!!! BAHAHAHA

JUST TRYING TO KEEP YOU OFF THE MARKET

My lady tells me that she likes big men, all her friends love big guys it just drives them crazy, hunk is in. Your lady is just trying to keep you down and off the market. Every once in a while my lady looks at me and says when is this going to end and that I'm making myself more marketable. I tell her that when I can not fit through the door way I'll slow down a little maybe.
Then I tell her look at the things you ladies do to make yourself look good.
Makeup, heals, color their hair, pushup bras. If she really felt that way she would just use and wear what god gave her. That usually keeps her in her place and off my back.
Good luck and never stop what makes you happy if it does not hurt anyone.

girls GENERALLY don't really like the look of a bodybuilder they like guys that look like abercrombie models or smaller Men's Health cover guys

I hear shit all the time, It's unhealthy, your too old, It goes on and on.
I tell her I guess it's more healthy to sit in a rockin chair all day smokin
pot like your lazy ass x husband

New food pyramid came out last year and I believe that brought a new RDA with it.

Nah, your too small has been added to my vocabulary:)

I feel the same way. I don't feel that damn big and always want bigger. Are most of us this way? I wonder if we have a bit of O.C.D. You know, striving for perfection.

in a dark room a woman once told me I was to big, but I told her that she's grabbing my forearm not my pecker... she signed in frustration when she finally found my weiner lol

THere is no doubt that being overweight either fat or muscle will shorten your life. There is also no doubt that AAS will shorten your life. It is a tradeoff we all make.

I dont uderstand how there is no doubt aas will shorten your life, isnt that why we have hrt clinics all over now to help us live longer? that is a very bold statment you make, I hope you have studys and documentation to back it up. I have yet to see one study showing that aas will shorten your life. this is why we have such a misunderstood lifestyle as bodybuilders, people go around spreading nonsense like this. I advice you to bit your tounge next time your thinking of saying something like this again as it has no credibility.
