what is the freakin key to getting rid of my belly & love handles? they just will not go away. right now i am 6'2 - 295 @ 14 percent bodyfat. everything else is coming out nicely. i am eating clean & training my ass off 4 days a week. someday, i would like to see my abs. any ideas ????? Big T
Ill speak for BIGT as he is my training partner. He is one big strong SOB! A currently natural lifter he puts up 405 on bench and squats over 5 plats for reps! His diet is currently unscripted. He eats a LOT of protien as much as he can but there is no real structure yet. We are almost dead even on all lifts and and weigh the same. I think the biggest thing is what would be the best ratio for him as far as Pro carb and fat and how negitive should he go on cals since hes natural?
This will give you an idea for a starting point. I like method 5's answer as it's based on LBM not total BW. You'll notice it's more calories that the other methods.
If I can figure a way to eat 7x ED he should shoot for 5x ED or more. Try not to eat carb after 5-6 PM - green veggies are OK.
I like to make a gram target for protein (e.g.; like 350g make your own realistic target) then add in good carbs, then add good fats for balance to equal target calories.
Since this is his "R"MR, he'll loose BF on this, the trick is to not loose muscle. If he's gonna increas his output, like starting to do more cardio, than his intake will need to be adjusted.
Have him use a tape measure and measure waist, right across the belly button - this is easy to consistently measure the same spot (keep the same "tension" on the tape). Use this measurement along with the scale to check progress.
If weight goes down drastically and measurement stays the same - he's not taking in enough calories - losing muscle. IDEALLY - the tape measurement will shrink and BW stays the same - losing BF and gaining muscle.
