first time looking to compete, how do i get a listing for local comp?

ive always wanted too compete but never had the guts too do it, untill recently.hopefully by this spring or summer, i will step on stage.im not sure because of recent car accident and still recovering.
i would like too find out when some are so i can set a deadline
