This may sound dumb but the guys I came up with we alway said “gas” or “getting on the gas” or “gassed up”. I did and still kinda do cringe at gear. I mean it’s the overwhelming term but am I the only guy from the 90s (late) 2000s crowd that used the term gas exclusively for a long time?

I've stated gas as well, but also the usual terms like "sauce," "juice," etc.
Yea those are the refs but I haven’t heard anyone but myself say gas in 10 years. Honestly I say roids as much as any nowadays even though it seems taboo. The best are the “supplements” guys like if the law somehow heard they’d fool them.

I've always said "juice" , but yea all the kids in the gym say gas.

Got into lifting late 80s/early 90s. Never heard gas. Alway juice, roids, and gear. I was East Coast mostly if that matters.

Down south that’s what they called it . I thought it was pretty cool until years ago I heard Rogan use the same term talking about Brock lesnar . Turned me off to it. I usually use the term gear myself

It was always sauce for me and my crowd: late 80s early 90s, New England. Juice seemed already an older term at the time.

the term "gear" , has always sounded dorky to me. i feel ya. I always would say "on the program" or make references to that. I never have said gear around my RL circle. Ignorant people that I have encountered say sauced up, the less informed say "swoll up"

I have always denied. Never talked about it. If brought up I have always said I would rather have someone on aas and working out then on meth and robbing and stealing. Usually shuts them up.

Not just you. I always used the term “gassed up”. It’s about time to Gas up. 😂

Uk based here. Juice but predominantly gear when I started in the 90’s. Haven’t heard much different all these years later

Juice, sauce and gear is what I’ve always heard. But one summer my boss’s son had to work for summer break and he called them anaroids. And Flex Wheeler once said “the utilization of sports technologies” and I’ve used that phrase a few times. But now we’z all gassed up!

  • In professional BBing field I have never heard the Term GAS only GEAR
