Good gyms in Durham, NC?

Hey,

I've gone to school in the area for three years, but this will be my first with a car, so I am looking for a decent gym (one at school is mediocre). Any suggestions? Anyone wanna catch a workout in a few weeks?

When I am in that area (Raleigh) for biz trips I hit the Golds Gym in Raleigh on Glennwood Ave. With traffic down there I don't know if that's an option but it's the best one I've found down there so far.

Yeah but if you go there between 3-7 you might as well expect to find another parking lot to walk from. The place is packed!!!

Just park across the street at the Target and walk over. It's not that bad, lol.

I used to go the The Halls Of Fitness when I lived in Durham. It's pretty close to Duke and more of a hard core gym where you can get a serious workout.

You are right, and I think it's still like 34.99 a month and you have access to all the Peak Fitness Gym's (after you pay the membership fee, but if you negotiate they will throw out the membership fee). I went there one time and parked at the ABC store down the road. I came back and the manager warned me not to park there again or I would be towed...

I usually train at school, but Jason Wojo trained at Millenium Fitness in Durham.. I think that his DC vid was filmed there.. Not sure though....

I was a member of Peak Fitness in Downtown Raleigh and they went out of business.

From what I was told they closed all of their gyms.

Not all of them...yet. The one on chapel hill blvd/15-501 is still good. One just shut down in southpointe area a few weeks ago. Its now called motion fitness. There some scandelous people running these peak facilities.

I got 2 buddies that workout there. Their hardcore lifters/bbers and they seem to like it for the most part. I don't think much has changed since the change over. I think the owner now (motion fitness) used to own that place before peak bought him out.
