so a friend of mine injected 250 mg of test cyp in his left glute, everything was sterile, good injection technique/cleaning, gear is from a trusted source, and it was not his first shot with the same vial. he is very lean, 6% body fat, at 170 lbs, and has used 1" pins in his glutes before without problems.
The pin was a 23G 1"
this is what happened:
day 1 - the injection went smooth, no pain.
day 2 - pain/swelling/redness started to develop
day 3 - the above became worse, fever/general pains set in. very hard/large lump at injection site.
day 4- fever/pains start to go away, but injection site remains very painful/hot/swollen. and still very hard.
day 5 - today, he goes to the doctor, who takes a look at the site.. says "its an abscess and its infected". and prescribed keflex.
but both my friend and i were curious.. doesnt an infection usually manifest its self through a "boggy" type pocket at the injection site.. not a hard lump? As in, pitting edema is usually notable? isnt the area softer, rather than harder? maybe there isnt really an infection there, and somehow the pin didnt get deep enough, so he has a ball of oil sitting just ontop of the muscle? (he's used 1" for glute shots several times with no problems) Regardless, he is going to start the keflex.. better safe than sorry.
anyway, just wondering what you guys thought. thanks in advance.
