HELP! Elevated CK levels!

I finished a precontest cycle of winny and fina about 6 weeks ago after a bodybuilding contest. Post contest I got some severe swelling and water retention (gained about 40 lbs). I had some blood work done about 2 weeks postcontest and my CKs were 6000! Normal is 10-200! I got them checked 2 and 4 weeks after that and each time it was ~4000!!!! the MD told me he's seen people in renal failure with lower values........GREAT!!!!!

Can anyone give me a possible explanation, etc.???? I need to figure this out fast!

are you..

taking creatine, that can cause innaccurate readings on your CK count. Not only that but so does lifting weights, you produce much more levels of CK then untrained individuals. If you are taking creatine cycle off for awhile. Did you tell yur doc about yur winny/fina cycle? Take all variables into consideration b4 diagnosing self with renal failure. Find out form yur doc if possible what yur globular filtration rate is, go to mayhem board too tom prince experienced some kidny problems and has some levels that are not good, search for tom prince or kidney failure or something.

Talk to your physician, but IF I were you, I would:

Get your water levels under control.

Just for now, I would do everything to minimize stress on the kidneys. Creatine COULD be a stress (not if you're healthy). It will elevate creatinine, but only slightly. Also, consider lowering your protein if its really high.

Drink LOTS of water, slowing increasing it to 2-3 gallons / day.

Reduce you sodium intake to minimial levels.

I would hold off on using diuretics (herbal or pharm., caffeine, etc.), at least until you start to get rid of the bloat.

The elevated CK could mean:
-Kidneys not fucntioning.
-Heart muscle is damaged - you can test for myocardial CK to determine this
-Skeletal muscle is damamged.
-Some combo of the above.

It IS possible to induce kidney failure via extremely damaging exercise, (this has occured in research studies), because the kidney must filter the proteolytic outpouring from the damaged muscle: myoglobin, enzymes, urea from AA oxidation, etc.

BTW, did you take some diuretics for your show?... What schedule did yo use?...

I used dyazide for my shows. 1/2 tab the night before for two of the shows and 1 tab the night before for Jr. USAs.
