To continue my eduation, that is. I have only been out of school since last December in which I graduted with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management. Recently after my graduation, I recieved several phone call with offer and ended up dedicating my decision to one. I am now employed with a very HIGH top level CM know internationally. I would rather not mention the name on the forum publicly. That being said, I am in a mangement postion and have decided that it would be in my best interest to take advantage of my age (23) and being single at the moment and go back to school to go for my masters degree. This is a very hard decision financially but not mentally or physically. This is something that will pay off in the long haul for my family. I want to provide opportunites to my family that I never had a chance at while growing up, be the world greatest dad (that I never had), be the worlds best husband (which my mother never had) and most of all, provide a happy and loving life for them.

Have any of you ever gone back for your education?

Would you have done anything differently?

Any suggestions?

I just wanna say congrats brotha!!!! I am majoring in CM right now and am getting ready to graduate this December...just wanted to wish you all the best on going back to better yourself for the future

I wouldn't give it a second thought... the sacrifices you make now will pay off in the end :D good luck man you wont regret it!

I am a firm believer in education.Hell at 23 your a baby bro and it is a great time if you have the free time to dedicate to it.I am 42 and have a Doctorate of Chiropractic and am contemplating getting a law degree if I don't get involved in a business venture with a couple partners.I say yes yes yes,go for it.You will never regret more education ,but people do regret not getting one or more.Good luck!!

good luck.

I'm assuming you mean keep your job and pursue Masters at same time. In that case, of course, get it done while you're young. You'll have experience and a masters under your belt by 25/26, and hopefully a better economy to deal with then affording even more opportunity, or a bidding war for your skillset. You did well to land a job at this time in that field, i wouldn't leave it to pursue Masters.

Awsome post, and you should go for it. I have gone back for my degree in biology, after getting my degree in the mortuary sciences. I plan on going back again, once i move, and getting my degree in nursing. Sounds like you have a solid plan that will help you in your field. if i could go back in time i would have applied all of my time into nursing.Good luck

Just out of curiosity, what happened to make you single? From your previous posts that was the last thing i would have thought to happen. If you don't want to share I completely understand.

good for you!!! keep going, we can never learn enough.

GO FOR IT, Great decision your still young, I made the mistake of quiting when I was young, but now I too just started school again at age 37 to finish up my bachelor's with the purpose of after going to law school. I want to be a insurance lawyer. I droped out just before completing my BA due to wanting a social life and going out. Now I own a small but very successful Insurance Adjusting firm and I'm making good money but not as good as I could...it is now time to expand...and I have my sights set on what I want..and will not stop until I reach my goal and pass the BAR. Good Luck to you.

Memorable moments from today's BP hearing

Thursday's House Spirit and Commerce Body grilling of BP CEO Tony Hayward featured profuse lawmakers peppering Hayward with questions laced with anger and indignation. And Hayward insisting, in lumbering, collateral replies, that he either had no special appreciation of the internal crowd decisions that led to the Deepwater Scope burgeoning — or that he couldn't furnish relevant details because Congress's own probe of the accident abortion is ongoing.

This family of calculated nonresponsiveness is, of path, familiar — echoing good old days Hill testimony from tobacco executives and baseball stars. But while Hayward stayed dutifully on address, the hearings proper had more than their allocation of drama.

Here are the prime's most catchy moments.

Rep. Joe Barton of Texas — the ranking Republican on the cabinet — kicked things off the mark advanced when he occupied his fissure remarks to step an apology to Hayward representing the Obama White House's "shakedown" of Hayward's body:

I say single, as I am not married YET. I have been with the same young lady now for seven years. I have been dating her since she was 14 years old. I am very fotunate to have found her at such a young age.

In my opinion, this is a good decision, one I doubt you will ever regret.
And I am impressed that in your post above, the word bodybuilding never
came up. And rightly so. It has little if anything to do with the real world,
especially at this stage of your life.

I went back to school several times and I don't regret it in the least and
wish, in retrospect, I had stayed in school at the start. But it all worked
out in the end, perhaps for the better (but there is no real way of knowing)
as I am doing something I love now, am passionate about, and going back
to school was a part of it.

As for my suggestion . . . follow your heart, your passion, and ask yourself,
if I knew I could not fail, if I could do anything in the world, what would I do?

Now go do it.

Thanks for that. When it comes to the sport of bodybuilding, it is full of life. I have learned many things about diet, training, rest and etc. But the most important thing I have learned in this sport is something a lot of people do not realize. Bodybuilding is a hobby to me; not my life, but a hobby. I have learned that the things you love to do in life need to be balanced inorder to continue loving what you do.
I love my job and working environment, but if I were there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, how long do you think it would take for me to hate going to work? Not long.
After saying that, I love the life of dieting and training, but there is so much more to life that I can benefit from.

Are you getting your masters from UCF? Just curious as I think you're in that area. Anyways, I think it is a great idea, I am 27, and took a little time off from school for nearly a year. I realized that it was something I needed, so I went back to help further my career. However, I am not using my degree in any way shape or form. Your degree is aimed at exactly what you are currently doing and what you want to do, that is great! Best of luck, and I must commend you on wanting to be:
A Father and A Husband. We need more men our age to think this way

My advice would be to work at least one full year before you make a decision. What is the masters degree going to be in? My only worry for you is that you might find that you do not like your job and dont care for working in construction management and id hate to see you spend time and money on a degree that you wouldnt use in the future. Is this masters degree specific to construction or is it a MBA type thing?

Really, since youre so young I dont see a reason to rush. Work that new job you have for a good year and see how you like it. I do take it that you will be able to earn this degree taking classes part time while working during the day?

I wish you the best always and we know you will be part of the community and can keep in touch.

But.. my opinion is that at your age you should strive to keep educating yourself and better your chances for opportunities in the future.

When I graduated from college that was just the beginning. I had to immediately continue for several more years to complete my education and it has really paid off..

I really think its worth it. Sometimes we have to get out of our comfort zones and take a chance.. I know financially and even mentally its going to be hard, but my opinion is that its the right thing to do.. You always have friends for support!

Do it!!! Im going back to school to be an elementary school teacher.. Cant wait until im done.. Never really knew what i wanted to do the whole time i was going .. I really am excited for people who decide to further their education.. Good luck to you!!

You have a valid point, Maldorf. I will be working full-time and also attending the night courses that may be offered.

I love the work I do right now, love the company, love the people and I am known as the guy who always has the smile on his face when at work (weird). But I am having a tough time between a MBA or a MS in Construction Management.

Well, how long have you been working there? You love for a job can change after working there for awhile. You could still be in that "honeymoon" period. Just trying to play with a bit of caution.

I would go for the MBA since that degree would be applicable to other careers. How are MBAs viewed in your line of work? Is the construction management masters viewed in a more faborable light? I would be willing to bet that the MBA carries more weight even in your field, espcially if it is earned from a good college.
