Ideal Gym Temperature

What do you think it should be? Mine is a friggin meatlocker. 57 degrees or so with the air blowing. Cool is fine with me but cold and windy leaves a lot to be desired.

i train in my home.. so in the winter my gym, even heated, gets no higher than 55-57 degrees.. in teh summer, it can be near 100 on some days.. can suck at times.. but, like anything, i got used to it.. my own little METROFLEX..LOL but, the ideal situation would be 65 to 68 degrees..

I Like it Normal temp...right around 70. Not to cold and Plenty hot enough once you get going.

In Cancun the Gyms were 100+ when I was there.
You had to purchase a sweat towel at the door if you didnt bring your own.
Otherwise the equipment would be a Nasty, slippery mess.

Ideal is 64 to 68 but after a few sets it feels like 90, if is hotter you will sweat like a pig and your cells gets dehidrated cousing a bad stimulation for muscle growth, your cells needs to be plenty of fluids and keep your water intake to keep them full so they can perform at 100%.

I hate feeling like im on the sun

Its so good to see that people on this board like a cool gym. I got some real heat freaks at my gym.....the women are for ever turning off the a/c because they say its too cold. Always the bigger ones too. Last week i turned on a ceiling fan, and this weirdo who was about 160 and 6'0 in his wife beater comes in doesnt even ask, and turns the fan off and starts rubbing his biceps as to say that he is cold. He didnt even do a set yet....WTF????........I

Since my gym is in the house, its 72 year around. If i had a choice,
60-65 would be perfect. IMO

Coolers in gyms... great way to get injured

Well, I think most of us larger persons like a cooler environment because we have more meat that produces body heat anyways. I like it slightly cooler than 70 degrees but that's me...Keep the air moving with many fans and I'm good to go. Air movement provides evaporation of sweat which in turn cools:D

I workout in a minimally heated, non-air conditioned garage. I heat it to 35 LOL. Ideal I would say is 65 to 70 with low humidity, something that exists maybe a dozen days a year at the most here. For warming up, 90 plus would be nice, but it sucks as soon as your warmed up. I MUCH prefer 35 to 90 plus with humidity....

I keep my gym at 68-70 degrees year round. it allows you to heat up and break a sweat but recover in between sets. Too cold and you tend to cool off between sets. Too hot and you do not recover and your workouts become very taxing.

This has been a subject of debate at the gym I work at for some time now. Some members want it hot, some want it cold. They complain, complain, complain all the time about the temperature. Now I just tell them its not going to change so they should dress appropriately.

More clothes if your cold, less if your hot.

Also, is constant griping a common thing with gyms everywhere?

Having wrestled since I was a toddler, I actually prefer to lift in heat. It was always on while we were going our hardest at practice and for me the sweat is kind of a motivator. I don't know why, but it takes me forever to warm up, so starting with a warm temp in the room always helps my intensity.
